Nigeria’s top celebrity couple Olubankole Wellington and Adesua Etomi Wellington are celebrating their son, Hazaiah Olusegun Wellington’s first birthday today.

The couple who got married in Cape Town, South Africa in 2017, took to social media to celebrate their son with a throwback video of the pregnancy process and personal messages to accompany it.

The singer turned actor and politician in a post on his Instagram page was thankful to God for giving him his wife and their son.

He considers himself the luckiest man in the world as their son is everything they prayed for and so much more.

He wrote: “I already knew I was the luckiest, most blessed man alive when God gave me Susu… then He gave us Zaiah. My goodness. This amazing young man is everything we prayed for and so much more. My heart is overwhelmed every single day with love, joy, and gratitude.

Happy 1st birthday to Hazaiah Olusegun “Champ” Wellington. Our perfect gift from God. As your name is, so shall your years be. Jehovah will always watch over you, and always give you the victory. You will be more knowledgeable than your teachers and more accomplished than your peers. You will achieve more than both of your parents combined, and fulfill your destiny in Jesus name. We separate you as a vessel for the Almighty; you will never lack any good thing.

We receive the grace, wisdom and resources to bring you up in the way of the Lord. We will live to see your children, and you will live to see your children’s children, in Jesus name. We will love you for-eternity.”
In the same vein, Adesua in her gratitude post on Instagram revealed that God saved her life after suffering a postpartum haemorrhage.

She wrote: “A year ago, God gave me the best gift ever. He placed the most precious jewel in my care.
A year ago, God saved my life after suffering a postpartum haemorrhage and I’m still here only because he had his way.
It’s been a year filled with lots of love, joy, peace and laughter.
Hazaiah, the one who yahweh sees
Champ
My joyful baby
My funny baby
My pacesetter
After Jesus, You are the light of our lives
I am so grateful to God for you
Nations will rise and call you blessed
Nations will come to your light and Kings to the brightness of your rising
You will forever be the Head and not the tail
The Lord shield you, announce you, defend you and favour you
Anyone who blesses you is blessed
Anyone who curses you is cursed
I declare that you are a city set upon a hill, you glory will never be hidden
You are salt of the earth, you will never lose your flavour
You will always be a source of Joy in Jesus name. Amen
I love you more than I can possibly put into words.
My Sunshine. My baby. My darling.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ZAZA. You mean the world to us.”

Mohbad’s Toxicology Result Finally Out

Published

The toxicology test carried out to determine the cause of death of late music star, Ilerioluwa Aloba aka Mohbad is finally out.

The test was being conducted in the United States.

Lagos State counsel, Oluwaseun Akinde, who confirmed this to the coroner’s court sitting in the Ikorodu area of the state in November 2023 said the autopsy into the external body of the deceased was completed while the toxicology test had to do with the internal body.

However, an official of the state government who is familiar with the case said the test result was sent to the state DNA and Forensic Centre last week.

The official who spoke on condition of anonymity as he was not authorised to speak on the matter added that the test result was transmitted to the police earlier this week.

“The toxicology test is ready and given to the police. We projected 10 weeks from the outset but it came in before then. It was received by the DNA and Forensic Centre last week and has been sent to the police,” the source said.

A source in the Lagos State Police Command who also spoke on condition of anonymity as he was not permitted to speak to the press confirmed the receipt of the result.

The source said, “The toxicology report is with us. It arrived on Monday but it is medical jargon for us. We don’t understand what it is. So it has been sent to the pathologist that carried out the autopsy to analyse and interpret it.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, could not be reached as calls made to his phone by PUNCH were not answered.

A text message sent to him had yet to be replied to as of the time the report was filed.

The Director of Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre, Richard Somiari, on March 20 said that the toxicology result would be ready in the next three to four weeks.

Somiari, while testifying during a coroner’s inquest into the death of the singer said, “We expected to get the first set of autopsy results in three to four weeks and re-confirm to authenticate the cause of the death.

“We searched for multiple possibilities, to check if poison was involved in the death of Mohbad since no actual cause was mentioned,” he said.

The forensic expert assured the public of adequate security and monitoring of samples for the autopsy.

“We have a place where items are stored for safety and security of results. There is a procedure for monitoring samples moved abroad,” he said.

Recall that Mohbad died at the age of 27, on September 12, 2023, with circumstances surrounding his death sparking controversies on social media.

A former record label signee of Marlian Music owned by Naira Marley, Mohbad left the label in February 2022.

The Lagos State Police Command had, on September 18, 2023, inaugurated a 13-man special investigation team to probe the singer’s death.

His death also led to the arrest of Naira Marley and controversial Lagos socialite, Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry, among others.

The singer’s body was on September 21, 2023, exhumed for autopsy.

Bobrisky didn’t commit capital offence, still in Ikoyi prison – Officials

The Nigeria Correctional Service has refuted claims that controversial cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye also known as Bobrisky, who was handed a six-month prison sentence over abuse of the naira notes, was moved from the Ikoyi custodial centre to its other facility in Kirikiri, Lagos State.

Bobrisky was reported to have been discreetly transferred to Kirikiri Prison last weekend where he was expected to complete his term.

An NCoS official however told PUNCH Metro on Thursday that he was still held in the Ikoyi prison.

The official who pleaded anonymity as he was not permitted to speak on the matter, said the convict did not commit a capital offence to warrant his transfer to a maximum prison where inmates serving life and death sentences were mostly kept.

“Bobrisky has not been moved, he is still here in Ikoyi. He was not sentenced to death and didn’t get a life sentence either. Those people sentenced to death and given life sentences are mostly kept in the maximum prison. That is mostly based on capital punishment. As for Bobrisky, he didn’t commit a capital offence, so why would they take him to Kirikiri,” the source said.

Another official who also preferred not to be mentioned as he was not in the official capacity to speak to the press, said that although there were plans to move some inmates across the custodial centres in the state, it was still being proposed.

The NCoS official added that the move was for decongestion.

“Sometimes, when we discover that the population of inmates is much in a facility, we decide to move them just to decongest. We are only considering that at the moment and not that anyone has been moved. If the prison authorities want to move, they have the right. We also do so if the person has a communicable disease or because the inmate requested it for proximity to the family or an appeal on humanitarian grounds.

“The leadership might also say, ‘Let’s spread those who have less than one year sentence’, which may apply to Bobrisky, just to create space for those awaiting trial. But such people rarely go to the maximum prison,” the source disclosed.

Calls made to the spokesperson for the Lagos State Command of the NCS, Rotimi Oladokun, went unanswered. A text message sent to him had yet to be responded to as of the time this report was filed.

PUNCH Metro reported that the crossdresser shares the same cell with male inmates and was examined at the point of admission while the outcome of the examination revealed that he had no realignment of gender or genital organs.

An official source who disclosed this to our correspondent added that the convicted crossdresser had been observing the rules and procedures obtained in the facility.

Bobrisky was arrested and detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. According to the commission, Bobrisky was invited due to a video report of spraying new naira notes at the premiere of Eniola Ajao’s movie titled, ‘Ajakaju’, which was held at FilmOne Circle Mall, Lekki, Lagos, on March 24, 2024.

He was convicted by a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Friday, April 5, 2024, after pleading guilty to the charges of naira abuse levelled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The EFCC filed six counts against him, with the first four counts related to naira abuse, and the last two counts concerning alleged money laundering.

Before reading the charges, the EFCC prosecutor requested the court to dismiss counts five and six.

Bobrisky pleaded guilty to the four counts of naira abuse. Before his conviction, he asked to be pardoned, adding that he was not aware of the laws binding the naira abuse and vowed to educate his fans on social media about it.
