The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has commended Operation Udo Ga-Achi—a state security initiative meaning Peace Shall Reign—for its remarkable success in tackling crime since its launch in January 2025.

This recognition came during ANSEC’s second meeting of the year, held on February 10, 2025, at the Council Chamber in Awka, Anambra State.

The council praised security personnel for their proactive efforts in combating criminal activities, ensuring safety across the state.

ANSEC Acknowledges Security Gains

In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, ANSEC lauded Operation Udo Ga-Achi for its effectiveness in tackling crimes such as kidnapping, cultism, armed robbery, killings, and idolatry.

The council urged the security forces to remain steadfast in their mission for a crime-free Anambra.

Highlighting the importance of the Anambra Homeland Security Law, ANSEC reaffirmed that the law targets criminal elements, fraudulent native doctors, and those corrupting Igbo societal values.

It specifically warns against individuals who promote wealth acquisition without labor, deceiving the younger generation.

Importantly, ANSEC clarified that the State Government has not outlawed traditional worship, emphasizing the need for moral rearmament and social re-engineering to restore the state’s values.

Major Security Achievements

Since its inception, Operation Udo Ga-Achi has made significant strides, including:

Apprehension of notorious kidnappers and the destruction of their hideouts in Ozubulu, Isiagu, Oba, and Nnewi.

Arrest of suspects involved in the murder of Hon. Justice Azuka, a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly representing Onitsha North State Constituency I.

Liberation of eight Local Government Areas (LGAs)—Aguata, Ihiala, Ekwusigo, Nnewi North, Nnewi South, Orumba North, Orumba South, and Ogbaru—which were previously overrun by criminals.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration remains committed to making Anambra a safe environment for residents, visitors, and businesses.

The council reiterated its support for security forces and pledged continued efforts to sustain peace and stability across the state.
