…..Philanthropy, Human Development, and Peacebuilding Take Center Stage
As Barr. Osima Ginah turns 60, Rivers State and the Niger Delta region reflect on the remarkable achievements of a man deeply committed to development, philanthropy, and peacebuilding. Known for his impactful contributions to education, infrastructure, and youth empowerment, Ginah has left an indelible mark on his community.
A series of events have been organized to commemorate this milestone, beginning with a three-day power-packed crusade in Angulama, Asari-Toru Local Government Area. The crusade was followed by a community football tournament, where Minama claimed victory after defeating Omektariama 3-0 in the finals. Angulama secured third place with a win over Krakrama.
On January 1, 2025, Ginah celebrated his birthday with an empowerment program aimed at alleviating economic hardships for families in Angulama. This event, preceded by a thanksgiving service, highlighted his unwavering commitment to philanthropy.
Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, an APC chieftain and former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New People’s Democratic Party, praised Ginah’s dedication. Eze remarked:
“Barr. Osima Ginah has through his developmental agenda touched many lives in his community and society at large. His efforts in human capacity building and community development are unparalleled.”
Empowerment through Education and Capacity Building
Barr. Ginah’s commitment to education and human capacity development is evident in his numerous initiatives. He instituted a scholarship scheme in his local government area, dedicating his monthly salary to funding education at all levels. Additionally, he paid WAEC and GCE fees for youths in his community and alma mater, Kalabari National College (KNC).
In Ginah’s words:
“I decided that I would pay the West African Examination Certificate (WAEC) fees for every person in my community who was ready to write the examination. In one of the years, I paid for 50 persons and for 55 persons in my alma mater, Kalabari National College, Buguma. I believe that it will be a stepping stone for those who want to pursue higher education.”
Ginah’s emphasis on education has helped many youths from impoverished backgrounds achieve their dreams, contributing positively to society.
Peacebuilding Efforts and Community Development
A staunch advocate of peace, Ginah played a crucial role in resolving conflicts in Angulama and the wider Kalabari Kingdom. He organized peace rallies and chaired reconciliation committees, bringing warring factions together.
Speaking on his peacebuilding efforts, a community leader said:
“Hon. Ginah was instrumental in resolving crises and fostering unity in Angulama and beyond. His commitment to dialogue and reconciliation has restored peace and created a conducive environment for development.”
