Renowned Canadian singer, Celine Dion, made a triumphant return to the stage at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics in Paris on Friday, her first live performance in four years.
Dion has been battling Stiff Person Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder.
The 56-year-old singer delivered a powerful rendition of Edith Piaf’s timeless classic “Hymne à l’amour” (1950) at the iconic Eiffel Tower, bringing the ceremony to a close.
Dion reportedly charged a fee of $2 million for her performance.
“I’m honoured,” Dion said, relishing her comeback performance at the Paris Olympics.
This performance marked Dion’s second appearance at the Olympic Games, having previously performed “The Power of the Dream” at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
