CONMMEP Elects New Executive as Udo Onyeka Becomes President

The Congress of Nigerian Maritime Media Practitioners (CONMMEP) has ushered in a new leadership team following a keenly contested election.

Comrade Udo Onyeka, the Publisher of News Business, emerged as the new President, succeeding Alhaji Tunde Umar-Daniah, who led the association for three years.

Udo Onyeka’s Vision for CONMMEP

In his acceptance speech, Onyeka assured members of his commitment to moving the organization forward with a focus on professionalism, transparency, and accountability.

“I pledge to work with every member to take CONMMEP to greater heights. Our administration will prioritize accountability, productivity, and the welfare of all members,” he stated.

Outgoing President Alhaji Tunde Umar-Daniah commended the smooth election process and urged the new leadership to uphold unity.

“I appreciate the peaceful conduct of all members and encourage the new executive to sustain the harmony and progress we have built,” he said.

Election Highlights

The election saw Udo Onyeka defeat Dili Nicholas Utomi for the presidency, while Femi Okonofua won the vice-presidential seat over Ann Ejuka.

Mcanthony Onuoha was re-elected unopposed as PRO, and Bolaji Israel emerged as General Secretary after Alfred Omenihu stepped down.

The election was marked by its peaceful and orderly process, demonstrating the organization’s commitment to democratic values and internal cohesion.
