D’banj Celebrates 20 Years of Musical Excellence in Style

Nigerian music icon, Oladapo Oyebanjo, popularly known as D’banj, marked a significant milestone in his career on Friday, celebrating 20 years of musical excellence in a grand ceremony in Lagos.

 

The event, held at Vaniti Lagos, Victoria Island, was attended by prominent figures in the Nigerian entertainment industry, including Funke Akindele, Femi Kuti, Timaya, ID Cabasa, Kenny Ogungbe, and Bisola Aiyeola, among others.

 

The celebration was a testament to D’banj’s enduring impact on the music industry, with guests and fans singing along to his hit songs from 2004.

 

The ceremony featured a cultural troupe welcoming D’banj with his debut track, “Mobolowowon,” and a special gift presentation by Ayo Animashaun, Founder of Hip TV.

 

Kenny Ogungbe, Music Executive and Founder of Kennis Music, praised D’banj’s resilience and hard work, saying, “Congratulations to D’banj for being on stage for 20 years…he is still standing very strong, very energetic, and still a great entertainer.” Funke Akindele also commended D’banj’s generosity and encouragement, which helped her produce her film, “Jennifer.”

 

D’banj, known for his hit song “Oliver Twist,” has won numerous awards, including Best African Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards and Best International Act Africa at the BET Awards.

 

The celebration was a fitting tribute to his contributions to the Nigerian music industry.
