Beyond Limits Football Academy has reaffirmed its qualification to play in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) next season, despite controversy surrounding its ownership.

The club’s rapid promotion from the Nigeria National League (NNL) has raised eyebrows, particularly since its owner, Kunle Soname, also owns NPFL club Remo Stars.

The league’s legal framework prohibits an individual from holding significant interests in multiple NPFL clubs (Clause 5.0).

However, Beyond Limits’ media head, Dimeji Oshode, maintains that the club’s management is separate from Remo Stars’, despite shared ownership.

“Beyond Limits will definitely play in the NPFL next season,” Oshode stated. “We have different managements, with distinct CEOs for both clubs.”

The league management body has yet to comment on Beyond Limits’ promotion, which appears to contradict the league’s rules.

The situation raises questions about the club’s eligibility to participate in the NPFL.

Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann has expressed his support for goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, despite a recent blunder in the team’s final Euro 2024 tune-up match against Greece.

Neuer’s mistake allowed Greece to score the opening goal, but Germany went on to win 2-1.

Nagelsmann is standing by his decision to keep Neuer as the starting goalkeeper for the Euros, saying, “He has my trust. He’s made three world-class saves, which undoubtedly not everyone makes. It’s not an accumulation of mistakes.”

The media has been questioning Neuer’s form, with some calling for Marc-Andre ter Stegen to replace him. However, Nagelsmann is not concerned, saying, “I absolutely don’t care what is discussed in the media.”

Team-mates Maximilian Mittelstädt and Pascal Gross have also shown their support for Neuer, with Mittelstädt calling him “the backbone of the team” and Gross saying “I am thrilled how good he is.”

Despite the debate, Germany is looking to take momentum into the Euros, with captain Ilkay Gündogan saying, “We start the European Championships with a good feeling, but there is no team that you beat 4-0 or 5-0 anymore.”
