More than 4,500 residents of Abere and Modakeke in Ile-Ife, Osun State, have benefited from a food distribution initiative by Fidelity Bank Plc. The two-day programme, held in partnership with the Ministry of Cooperatives and Empowerment and the Esther Adeleke Foundation, delivered essential food items to families in need.

The initiative is part of Fidelity Bank’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment to tackling hunger and improving livelihoods across Nigeria. Launched in April 2023, the Fidelity Food Bank programme has reached communities in all six geopolitical zones of the country.

Speaking at the event, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Fidelity Bank, Dr Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, represented by the Regional Bank Head, Southwest II, Mrs Morenike Olabisi, explained the initiative’s purpose.

“This is the third distribution exercise in Osun State this year, and our aim is to achieve zero hunger in Nigeria and achieve the Sustainable Development Goal 2. Our CSR initiatives are designed not just to provide immediate relief, but to empower people and improve their livelihoods,” she said.

Mrs Olabisi also announced the donation of 500 Point of Sale (POS) machines to the state’s Ministry of Cooperatives and Empowerment.

“These POS machines will serve as an income-generating tool for many families and small business owners across the state. Fidelity prides itself as a responsible organisation, and we place a huge premium on the wellbeing of our host communities,” she added.

Representing the Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, the Commissioner for Cooperatives and Empowerment, Bayo Ogungbangbe, expressed gratitude to the bank for its ongoing support.

“This is not the first time Fidelity Bank is giving back to the state and this shows that the well-being of the people is of top priority to the bank. We are deeply grateful for their sacrifice and we urge other corporate organizations to emulate Fidelity Bank on this laudable initiative,” he said.

Also speaking at the event, the founder of the Esther Adeleke Foundation and wife of the Osun State Governor, Erelu Ngozi Adeleke, reflected on the success of their previous collaboration with Fidelity Bank.

“My resolve to help the needy and alleviate poverty necessitated my partnership with Fidelity Bank in the distribution of food items to the needy. There is hardship in the country, and I am doing my best to support the governor of Osun State to cater for the needs of Osun people.

“I want to appreciate the management of Fidelity Bank for their dedication to the people of Osun State, and we want to assure the bank that they have our utmost support,” she said.

Jamara Home says the initiative combines lifestyle appeal with affordability at a time when many Nigerians are prioritising value for money.

Why it matters

Jamara Home positions the campaign as a response to these realities, offering reduced prices across multiple product categories.

According to the company, customers can access discounts on a wide range of appliances, including:

Televisions and audio systems

Speaking on the campaign, Oluwatomi Faniran, Head of Marketing at Jamara Home, said the initiative connects lifestyle, affordability, and the season of love.

Adron Homes at 14: Company says Affordable Housing can Shape Nigeria’s Urban Future

Published

on

Adron Homes and Properties Limited has marked its 14th anniversary, reaffirming its commitment to affordable housing and structured community development across Nigeria.

The real estate firm says it has delivered more than 60 estates nationwide, positioning itself as a major player in efforts to expand access to land and housing for low- and middle-income earners.

Nigeria faces an estimated housing deficit of over 20 million units, according to government data, making private sector participation critical to addressing urban growth pressures.

Why this matters

Rapid urbanisation has continued to strain housing supply in major Nigerian cities, pushing property prices beyond the reach of many families.

Adron Homes says its model focuses on affordability, infrastructure, and future-ready communities rather than land sales alone.

Company milestones

Over the past 14 years, Adron Homes has expanded its footprint across Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Abuja, Nasarawa, and Niger State.

Its developments span fast-growing corridors such as Ibeju-Lekki, Lekki-Epe, Badagry, Shimawa, Sagamu, Abeokuta, Ibadan, and Papalanto.

The company says these locations were selected to support emerging urban centres and ease congestion in major cities.

What the CEO says

Speaking on the anniversary, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Adron Group, Aare Adetola Emmanuelking, described the milestone as a reflection of long-term vision and resilience.

“Fourteen years ago, we set out with a clear vision to make property ownership accessible and achievable for every hardworking Nigerian. Today, we celebrate not only the growth of Adron Homes but the countless families whose dreams have become reality through our communities. Our journey has always been about impact, empowerment, and building environments where people can truly thrive.”

He said the company’s approach goes beyond land acquisition to focus on planned urban environments.

“At Adron Homes, we build cities, not just estates. Each development reflects thoughtful planning, infrastructure, accessibility, and a long-term vision for modern living. As Nigeria continues to urbanise rapidly, our mission is to ensure that growth is inclusive, structured, and sustainable.”

Acknowledging stakeholders

Aare Emmanuelking credited customers, employees, partners, and the media for the company’s growth.

“This milestone is a testament to the trust of our customers, the dedication of our workforce, and the unwavering support of our partners and stakeholders. Together, we have demonstrated that affordable housing can be delivered with quality, innovation, and integrity.”

What’s next

Adron Homes says it plans to expand mass housing solutions and adopt more technology-driven real estate innovations.

The company also said it will continue to pursue partnerships aligned with Nigeria’s economic growth and housing accessibility goals.

“The future of Adron Homes is defined by innovation, expansion, and deeper community impact. We remain committed to democratizing property ownership, building sustainable communities, and shaping the future of real estate in Nigeria for generations to come.”

Apapa Customs Praised for Record Revenue and Major Drug Seizures

Published

on

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Apapa Area Command has been commended for surpassing its 2025 revenue target and recording major anti-smuggling successes, including seizures of cocaine and tramadol.

The commendation came during a familiarisation visit by the Zonal Coordinator, Zone A, Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs, Mohammed Babandede.

Addressing officers, Mr Babandede said the visit was aimed at recognising both the challenges and achievements of the Command.

He praised officers and men for what he described as “exceptional performance” in revenue generation, enforcement and trade facilitation throughout 2025.

Revenue, security and public health

The Zonal Coordinator noted that Apapa Command exceeded its annual revenue target, a performance that strengthens government finances at a time of fiscal pressure.

He also highlighted the Command’s sustained anti-smuggling operations, pointing to seizures of narcotics and other illicit substances.

According to him, interceptions of drugs such as cocaine and tramadol are not just enforcement wins but “critical contributions to national security, public health and societal safety.”

He added that effective enforcement creates a safer environment for legitimate trade to thrive.

Trade facilitation and inter-agency cooperation

Mr Babandede stressed that Customs’ responsibilities go beyond revenue collection to include trade facilitation and national security.

He commended the Command’s collaboration with sister agencies and urged officers to deepen cooperation, particularly in deploying modern trade facilitation tools.

These tools, he said, have helped position the Nigeria Customs Service at what he described as an “upper-class operational rating.”

Integrity, welfare and drug tests

The Zonal Coordinator also delivered a clear message on integrity and professionalism.

He urged senior officers to mentor younger personnel, warning that reputation management is central to public trust in the Service.

On welfare and health, Mr Babandede disclosed that drug tests would be conducted across Commands and advised officers to remain health-conscious for effective service delivery.

Command responds

Responding, the Customs Area Controller of Apapa Command, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, thanked the Zonal Coordinator for what he described as a timely and motivating visit.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining high performance in revenue generation, enforcement, trade facilitation and inter-agency cooperation.

Mr Oshoba said the Command would continue to operate in line with the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023, and the policy direction of the Comptroller-General of Customs.

What’s next

Customs authorities say the focus will remain on balancing revenue generation with security and trade facilitation, as Nigeria pushes for more efficient ports and improved ease of doing business.
