Gov. Sanwo-Olu raises revenue target for LASTMA to N2.5 billion

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration has set N2.5 billion revenue generation target for officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) for 2024 to be paid into the state government coffers.

 

According to the approved budget of the state by the governor for 2024, the N2.5 billion target set for LASTMA is out of the N52.48 billion cumulative expected revenue set for the ministry of transportation and agencies under its watch to generate this year.

 

Between January and September 2023, LASTMA was said to have generated N703.486 million out of the N2.35 billion revenue target set for it.

 

While the ministry itself, according to the budget, was directed to generate N11.28 billion, the Lagos State Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) is to cough out N10.3 billion.

 

In the same vein, the state government set N17.059 billion revenue target for the Motor Vehicle Administration Agency (MVAA), who between January and September 2023, generated N7.196 billion out of the N16.399 billion target set for it.

 

Additionally, out of the N52.48 billion revenue target for all agencies in the ministry combined in 2024, the Lagos State Parking Authority, who in 2023, generated N450.9 million between January and September out of the N1.75 billion the state government targeted for it, is expected to generate N4.1 billion this year.

 

Finally, the budget also showed that the state government has increased the revenue generation target for the Lagos State Number Plate and Production Authority for this year to N6.2 billion, from the N5.23 billion set for it in 2023.

NSCDC Anambra State Command Strengthens Intelligence Gathering to Combat Crime

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Anambra State Command has intensified its intelligence gathering efforts to further reduce crime levels within the state.

 

The State Commandant, Comdt. Maku Olatunde, met with intelligence officers from the 21 local governments to strategize on proactive measures to gather critical information and stay ahead of criminal elements.

 

The meeting emphasized the importance of intelligence gathering in preventing and combating crime, with Comdt. Maku charging officers to be vigilant, proactive, and innovative in their approach.

 

He noted that effective intelligence gathering is crucial to preventing and combating crime, and called for enhanced collaboration with other security agencies, stakeholders, and the public to bridge the intelligence gap.

 

The Head of Intelligence and Investigation Department, Assistant Commandant Amadi Marcel, stated that the renewed focus on intelligence gathering will further reduce crime levels and ensure a safer and more secure environment for citizens and residents.

 

The meeting discussed ways to enhance collaboration with other security agencies and stakeholders to ensure a seamless flow of information and a united front against crime.

So-Safe Corps Boosts Security in Ogun, Trains Over 600 Personnel to Combat Insecurity

The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) has trained over 600 personnel to enhance the state’s security system and tackle insecurity, kidnapping, banditry, and ritualistic crimes.

 

The three-week training, which ended on Tuesday in Ilaro, Ogun State, aimed to equip personnel with the necessary knowledge and skills to combat modern security challenges.

 

The training featured lectures on various topics, including effective community policing, cybercrime, peacekeeping, crime prevention, and physical training exercises.

 

So-Safe Corps State Commander, Dr. Soji Ganzallo, praised the personnel for their discipline and sacrifice, assuring that the corps will continue to train its personnel to meet the new standards of the security system.

He noted that the training was to prepare personnel for the forthcoming election and to make them combat-ready to face any challenges.

 

The Hon. Commissioner, Ogun State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftiancy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, represented by Mrs. Bose Olaniyan, commended the organizers of the training and urged the officers to apply the acquired skills to their day-to-day activities as security actors in the state.

 

The training was held in conjunction with the Nigeria Police Force, Ogun State Command, and featured dignitaries such as Bishop A.P Olaitan, Chairman So-Safe Marshal, and Alhaji Shuaib Aro.

Akwa Ibom Police Command Records Operational Breakthroughs, Arrests Suspects for Various Crimes

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recorded significant operational breakthroughs in the fight against crime, with the arrest of suspects for various offenses, including kidnapping, rape, vandalism, armed robbery, and child trafficking.

 

According to the Commissioner of Police, CP Waheed Ayilara, the command has adopted new strategies to combat evolving crimes and criminalities, yielding positive results.

“We have adopted new strategies in fighting evolving crimes and criminalities in order to ensure that Akwa Ibom State is stable and remains one of the most peaceful states in the country,” CP Ayilara said during a press briefing on Monday.

 

The CP highlighted several operational breakthroughs, including the arrest of a suspected kidnapper, recovery of firearms, arrest of a suspected rapist, and arrest of suspects for vandalism and stealing.

He also mentioned the arrest of suspected vandals responsible for vandalizing electric transformers and communication masts, as well as the arrest of suspected armed robbery syndicates.

CP Ayilara appreciated the government, sister security agencies, and the public for their support and timely information, which led to the achievements.

 

“The Command looks forward to a more formidable collaboration from all as we strive to keep Akwa Ibom State safer and more peaceful. If you see something, say something and the Police will immediately do something,” he added.
