Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has been named The Sun Newspaper’s Man of the Year 2024, a testament to his remarkable achievements and innovative leadership in the state. This prestigious recognition highlights his efforts in governance, infrastructural advancement, and the transformation of Anambra State.
The award will be presented to Governor Soludo at a ceremony scheduled for March 1, 2025, in Lagos. The selection process, carried out by the management of The Sun Newspaper, underscores his impact in steering Anambra State to enviable heights within a relatively short period of his administration.
Popularly known as “Mr. Fixer,” “Mr. Reformer,” and “Mr. Jinx Breaker,” Governor Soludo has garnered praise for his solution-driven governance style, which has resulted in numerous developmental projects. These projects reflect his vision to make Anambra a livable, prosperous, and economically vibrant state.
In a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, The Sun Newspaper’s Editor-in-Chief, Mr. Onuoha Ukeh, accompanied by other editors, visited Governor Soludo in Awka on Friday to deliver the award letter. According to Mr. Aburime, the letter followed weeks of a meticulous selection process conducted by The Sun Newspaper’s management.
During the visit, Mr. Ukeh commended the governor for his infrastructure projects across the 21 Local Government Areas, investments in human capital development, healthcare, education, youth empowerment, skills acquisition programs, and seed capital initiatives.
Governor Soludo expressed gratitude to the Sun Newspaper team, describing the recognition as unsolicited but well-appreciated.
He said:
“I thank The Sun Newspaper team for this unsolicited but purely based on merit conclusion. Your rationale for this decision, as provided, is encouraging and serves as further motivation for me to continue delivering transformational governance to the people of Anambra State.”
The award ceremony is expected to attract dignitaries from across the country to celebrate Governor Soludo’s remarkable achievements.
