The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has announced the appointment of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Benjamin Hundeyin as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO).
CSP Hundeyin takes over from Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who formally handed over duties on Thursday at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
A seasoned communicator
Hundeyin brings with him a strong background in law enforcement, communications, and security psychology. He holds a BA in English Language from Lagos State University and MSc in Legal Criminology and Security Psychology from the University of Ibadan.
He also obtained a Certificate in Civil-Military Coordination from the Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Training Centre, Kaduna, and is professionally affiliated with several respected bodies. These include the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), the International Public Relations Association (IPRA), and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM).
National and international experience
The new Force spokesperson is not new to the role. He previously served as the Police Public Relations Officer at Zone 2 Command Headquarters in Lagos and as the Lagos State Police Command PRO until this appointment.
In 2020, Hundeyin was part of Nigeria’s contingent to the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Darfur, Sudan (UNAMID). He has also served as an Administration Officer at the Force Public Relations Department in Abuja.
IGP’s charge to Hundeyin
Announcing the appointment, IGP Egbetokun urged Hundeyin to use his experience to strengthen the Police Force’s relationship with the public.
“The Inspector-General of Police has charged him to leverage on his communications and security experience to bolster the Force Public Relations activities and ensure continuous positive relations with the public,” the statement read.
Smooth transition
The outgoing FPRO, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the handover in a signed statement dated 4 September 2025, wishing his successor success.
