Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has cautioned Tony Okocha, the ousted Chairman of the Rivers APC, against using the name of former Transportation Minister, Chibuike Amaechi, to curry favour with his paymasters.
Okocha had claimed that Amaechi intends to use the Rivers APC Chairman, Chief Emeka Beke, to fight President Tinubu in 2027, but Eze rebuffed the claim, stating that Nigerians are already armed with enough reasons to fight and oust Tinubu from office in 2027 due to the administration’s failures.
“…Eze admonished Okocha and his sponsors to be concerned about the fact that the country once known as Africa’s giant has collapsed in all facets under the nose of Tinubu, and channel energy towards fashioning out solutions, if they have any, to the gamut of problems they have created impeding Nigeria’s progress….”
Eze also exposed a surreptitious scheme by some members of the APC National Working Committee (NWC), led by Victor Giadom, to cheer Okocha to jail by prompting him to continue acting as chairman of APC in defiance of a court directive.
“Beke has shot himself in the leg by also referring to Amaechi as leader of the party in Rivers and the South-South. A man who refused to cooperate with President Tinubu then as presidential candidate, a man who worked for the opposition,” Okocha had said.
However, Eze reminded Okocha that Amaechi has never struggled for power and that engaging in avoidable tussles is not in his character.
“Tony Okocha was quoted as saying thus, “There is an intention to throw up Amaechi’s man and then he (Amaechi) becomes the APC leader and then uses the APC to fight Mr President in 2027. We will never allow that,” Eze said.
He also quoted Prof. Maduagu, who described Okocha’s rally in support of Tinubu as a “show of shame”.
“Chief Eze dear, truly I must confess that this your Tony Okocha is really shameless. What was that show of shame he called rally for?. Mustering support for BAT. What for? He should see a psychiatrist as quickly as possible,” Prof. Maduagu said.
Eze also stated that Gov. Fubara of Rivers State has refurbished the psychiatric hospital close to Okocha’s house so that he can easily be rushed to the medical facility for treatment whenever he starts acting weird.
The APC chieftain urged Okocha to refrain from using Amaechi’s name to cash out from his paymasters and to focus on finding solutions to the country’s problems.
“It is even foolish for a mere mortal like Okocha to be talking about 2027, three years away from today, when no one is sure of the next minute of his life; like the Bible said in James 4:14 …”whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appeareth for a little time, and vanisheth away after a while,” Eze said.
