JUSTICE OLUSEGUN ODUSOLA IS WORTHY OF EMULATION, SAYS GOV AKEREDOLU.

“Under this administration, Ilaje had produced the first Deputy Governor, and now the first Chief Judge of Ondo State” .

These are the words of Ondo State Deputy Governor, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa while representing Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON at the Civic Reception organized by Ilaje Forum in honour of the newly appointed Chief Judge of Ondo State, Justice Olusegun Ayedun Odusola, held at International Culture and Event Center, The Dome, Alagbaka Akure on Saturday.

Indeed, it was a golden night of tributes and commendations on Justice Odusola who has a very rich and enviable trajectory in the judiciary.

In his remarks as Special Guest of Honour at the very impressive event, Aiyedatiwa said, “what you are doing today is not merely celebrating Justice Odusola, it is also a popular affirmation, giving credence to the passion of Mr Governor for always considering merit to put a round peg in a round hole in appointing people to positions of responsibility”.

“We therefore have every reason to thank Mr Governor for considering Justice Olusegun Odusola eminently worthy” .

“We have never had it so good as no one can surpass Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, CON in his love for us as a people” , he declared.

Charging Justice Odusola to always stand tall, the Deputy Governor said, “this special ceremony should further challenge him to continue to uphold those virtues and never to depart from the path of honour for which he is being celebrated today” .

Acknowledging the significance of the event organizer, Ilaje Forum, Aiyedatiwa said, “the State Government will continue to be committed to the development of Ilaje people and would be willing to collaborate with you all in this direction” .

He equally thanked Ilaje Nation for demonstrating their love and support for the rulling All Progressives Congress, APC, by massively voted all APC candidates in the recently concluded general elections.

“You should be rest assured that you have chosen that path that will accelerate critical infrastructural development of Ilaje land and the State in general” , he promised.

Speaking on “The Role of The Judiciary in The Development of Democracy” , the guest speaker, Ebun Adegboruwa SAN, charged Justice Odusola to teach political actors on the need to follow rule of law.

“Our people must have faith in the capacity of the bench” , he said.

While calling for a Judiciary that is independent and courageous for a just society, Ebun Adegboruwa implored Justice Odusola to leave a legacy of Judiciary that will look and speak to power at all times.

The Chairman of Ilaje Forum that organized the reception, Professor Edamisan Temiye congratulated the newly appointed Chief Judge for being a good ambassador of Ilaje Nation as he prayed God to assist him perform well.

Justice Odusola appreciated Ondo State Government and Ilaje Forum for the joy and warmth reception, promising that, the reward for hardwork, is more work.

Gunmen Invades, Set Ablaze Palace Of Imo Monarch Ablaze

The palace of the traditional ruler at Ndia Iche Arondizuogu community in the Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State, Eze Kanu Ikenolu,  was set ablaze by unknown gunmen.

 

Speaking about the incident, sources told the Whistler that the gunmen stormed the palace of the traditional ruler with explosives which they threw into the compound which resulted in a fire outbreak that torched the building, properties and cars in the compound.

 

A community source said that properties worth millions were destroyed and blamed the police for not responding to the distress calls from the community.

 

The villager said, “The palace of HRH Eze Ikenolu, the Eze of Ndia iche Arondizuogu has been invaded by the Unknown Gunmen and the people are in the bushes now.

 

“Until now no response from the police about the palace of HRH Eze Kanu in Ndianiche Arondizuogu, where cars, houses, and properties worth millions of naira were destroyed. Or is Arondizuogu no longer part of Imo State?”

 

The spokesperson of Imo State Police, Henry Okoye said that “frantic investigating efforts are on top gear to arrest the arsonists and bring them to justice”

President Tinubu Appoints Special Investigator To Probe CBN

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed a Special Investigator to probe the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and key Government Business Entities (GBEs).

This is coming after the suspended Governor of the apex bank, Godwin Emefiele is been detained at the office of the Department of State Services.

In a letter obtained by journalists, President Tinubu named the Chief Executive Officer, Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN), Jim Osayande Obazee, as the special investigator of the CBN bank.

Tinubu also directed Obazee to report directly to his office.

“By the fundamental objective outlined in Section 15(5) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), this administration is today, continuing the fight against corruption by appointing you as a Special Investigator, to investigate the CBN and Related Entities. This appointment shall be with immediate effect and you are to report directly to my office.

“The full terms of your engagement as Special Investigator shall be communicated to you in due course but, require that you immediately take steps to ensure the strengthening and probity of key Government Business Entities (GBEs), further block leakages in CBN and related GBEs and provide a comprehensive report on public wealth currently in the hands of corrupt individuals and establishments (whether private or public).

“You are to investigate the CBN and related entities using a suitably experienced, competent and capable team and work with relevant security and anti-corruption agencies to deliver on this assignment. I shall expect a weekly briefing on the progress being made,” Daily Trust quoted President’s letter saying.
