The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a suspect, Chimereze Chinedu, for defrauding a Thai citizen of $216,000 and N30 million in a tricycle sales scam.
Chinedu posed as a seller and deceived the victim into paying for 37 tricycles that were never delivered. He then forged letters from the State Criminal Investigative Department, claiming the tricycles were seized by the police, and extorted an additional N30 million from the victim to secure their release.
The suspect was arrested on May 10, 2024, in Enugu State after a thorough investigation with technical support from INTERPOL.
He is currently in detention, and the police are working to identify and apprehend his accomplices. The Lagos State Police Command reaffirms its commitment to combating internet fraud and bringing perpetrators to justice.
