TAMPAN Ikorodu Chapter Honors Iyaloja General with Prestigious Lifetime Matron Title at 2024 Oga Theatre Day Celebration

The Ikorodu Local Government Area Chapter of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) recently celebrated the 2024 Oga Theatre Day with a grand event that saw the esteemed Iyaloja General of Ikorodu being conferred with the prestigious title of Life Matron of TAMPAN Ikorodu Chapter.

The award presentation was a highlight of the joyous occasion, which brought together prominent figures in the entertainment industry to honor outstanding contributions and achievements in the field.

The Chairman of the Ikorodu Local Government Area chapter of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), Ambassador Wole Oluwaseyi Ojojolu, spoke on the inspiration behind the event stating that it is aimed at promoting unity and love in the Nigerian movie industry.

According to Amb. Wole Oluwaseyi Ojojolu, “As an entertainer and thespian forum, I have long desired to see what we can do to bring us together as thespians, especially in this local government. For years, I have been concerned about the lack of love and unity in Nigeria, which I believe can be addressed through our movies. This motivated us to come together and find ways to project this important message to the public through our work.

On the need to revive the traditions of the pioneers of Nigerian cinema, Amb. Wole said, “We need to bring back the practice of nurturing new talents. In the movies we showcased today, we featured our children prominently because we want to catch them young. We want to encourage them to develop their skills in theatre, so that when they grow up and become prominent figures in the industry, they can proudly say they are veterans.

Regarding the issue of piracy, Amb. Wole expressed gratitude to the federal government for its efforts to address the problem, saying, “Thanks to the federal government, measures are being put in place to curb piracy. Although piracy is still affecting us, the government’s actions and those of our association are helping to mitigate its impact on the movie industry.”

Also at the event, Alhaji Ade Adenrele, Chairman of the Ikorodu Elders Council of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), shared his thoughts on the significance of the occasion and his personal journey in the movie industry.

According to Alh. Ade Adenrele, “We are celebrating Oga Theatre Day to showcase new talents and learn from each other. I am grateful for the impact this industry has had on my life. I never considered another profession, and I thank God that my life has been a testament to His greatness. Through this career, I have gained global recognition, and I have no regrets choosing this path.”

Honorable Bukola Ogunnote, a veteran in the movie industry, shared her thoughts on the evolution of the sector and offered words of wisdom to the upcoming generation.

According to Hon. Bukola Ogunnote, “The movie industry has developed significantly over time. I’m thrilled to see how far we’ve come, and I believe the sky is just the beginning for us. We’re making progress, and our productions are becoming more realistic, which is a testament to our growth.

Speaking to the next generation of industry professionals, she advised, “Remain focused, steadfast, and don’t take shortcuts. You can’t plant cassava and expect to harvest corn. Whatever you sow, you will reap. Take the time to learn, go through the proper training and processes, be respectful and above all, have the fear of God.”

Prince Adeleye Oluwafolajimi Roland, also known as Mr. Roland, shared his thoughts on the importance of the program in discovering new talents and promoting inclusivity in the movie industry.

According to Mr. Roland, “This program provides an opportunity to discover new talents, learn, relearn, and unlearn. Not all actors can perform on stage, but attending events like this helps learn the procedures. Things are changing in the industry, and some of us have decided to create content that reflects our background and values. We strive to produce movies that are suitable for all audiences, like ‘Irora Iya’, which is a family-friendly film with lessons for everyone.”
