Nigerian Army Arrests Impostors, Recover Fake IDs

Nigerian Army, 81 Division, has arrested not less than six persons impersonating military officers.

Lieutenant Ayodeji Owoyomi, who spoke on behalf of the Commander, 81 Division Provost Group, Brigadier General Mohammed Abubakar, revealed this while addressing journalists at the Division in Victoria Island, Lagos on Monday, the punch report.

According to the punch, Some of the suspects arrested  were wearing military uniforms, allegedly escorting vehicles to evade security checks and providing security for some Very Important Persons.

Parading the suspects, Owoyomi disclosed that their actions had caused serious damage to the reputation of the army as some of the suspects earlier arrested and handed over to the police, were seen again perpetuating the same offence.

LASTMA, OTHER EMERGENCY RESPONDERS RESCUED 3 ACCIDENT CASUALTIES AT OJUELEGBA

The Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Police and other emergency responders on Sunday, 24th of September, rescued 3 casualties from trapped saloon car at Ojuelegba inward Stadium on Funsho Williams Avenue, Surulere, Lagos.

According to the statement issued by Taofiq Adebayo, Director Public Affairs Department LASTMA, Traffic Officer Olajide Olukoga ‘Bravo’ who led the Lastma rescue operations at the scene of the accident confirmed that a 40ft container fell on top of a Toyota Corolla car (JJJ 811 FB) at the top Ojuelegba bridge inwards Stadium.

He confirmed further that out of those 3 casualties rescued from the Toyota Corolla saloon car, only one (male) came out unhurt and was allowed to go immediately.

The remaining 2 rescued casualties (an adult male and a female) were rushed to hospital by an ambulance belonging to Lasema.

Police men from Surulere Police Division were at the scene to provide adequate security.

While the entire Ojuelegba bridge inwards Stadium was temporarily closed and traffic diverted to the service lane by Lastma Officials.

Rescue and recovery operators completed at 11:30pm yesterday night and the temporary closed Ojuelegba bridge was opened back for vehicular movement by Lastma officials by 11:20pm yesterday night.

LASTMA APPREHEND A RECALCITRANT COMMERCIAL BUS DRIVER AFTER STABBING COLLEAGUE WITH KNIFE AT COSTAIN

The Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) on Sunday arrested a driver of a painted Volkswagen ‘T4’ commercial bus (LSR 966 YE) for stabbing a Lastma Officers after being apprehended for serious traffic obstruction around costain round-about, Lagos.

This was disclosed in a statement made available by Taofiq Adebayo, Director Public Affairs Department, LASTMA, stating that the culprit stabbed an official for arresting him.

According to the statement, Lastma Officer Olajide Olukoga ‘Bravo’ who led the enforcement team disclosed that the Volkswagen commercial ‘T4’ bus was apprehended for picking passengers on main expressway thereby causing serious traffic obstructions to other road users around costain inward Iponrin.

He disclosed further that the enforcement operations was carried out around costain round-about inward Iponrin after several warning by the government to commercial bus/private car drivers to make use of designated bus-stops before picking or dropping passengers/friends across the State.

“Our enforcement team had successful apprehended the driver despite dangerous driving attempts to escape before he brought out knife and stabbed me”

“After seeing the deep cut he had inflicted with the knife, he decided to stripped himself naked and caused serious commotions before he was eventually arrested by Police men from Iponri Police Station”

After his arrest, dangerous weapons ‘cutlass and knife’ was recovered inside his commercial Volkswagen ‘T4’ bus by security officers.

The government had confirmed that the arrested driver would be immediately prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to other recalcitrant drivers.

LASTMA RESCUE DRIVER, MOTHER AND 2 SCHOOL CHILDREN INVOLVED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AT AJAH, LAGOS.

The Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) on Thursday,  rescued a woman with her 2 children going to school including the driver of a Sienna bus involved in a serious accident around Ajah area of Lagos

This was disclosed in a statement made available to journalists by Adebayo Taofiq, the Director Public Affairs Department (LASTMA).

According to the statement, Lastma Odumbo Ekundayo ‘Bravo ‘ (Zone 14) confirmed that the accident which involved a Fiat Pick-up company van (SMK 297 GD) and a Sienna bus (LSR 105 HW) occurred early this morning (7:30am) at Salau junction after Jakande 1st gate inward Chisco along Lekki-Ajah Expressway,

 

Preliminary investigation revealed that the serious accident was as a result of over speeding which resulted to lost of control that caused the accident.

 

Lastma Ekundayo confirmed further that all rescued 4 accident victims were rushed to nearby Hospital by the husband of the rescued woman after he was contacted with the help of Lastma officials at the accident scene.

 

He disclosed that the 2 vehicles involved in the accident were handed over to Policemen from Ilasan Police Station by Jakande along Lekki-Ajah Expressway who were equally at the accident scene.

 

The General Manager of LASTMA Mr Bolaji Oreagba however called on drivers (private and commercial) to always minimize their speed whenever they are driving on the highway.
