Nigerian Army Arrests Impostors, Recover Fake IDs

Nigerian Army, 81 Division, has arrested not less than six persons impersonating military officers.

Lieutenant Ayodeji Owoyomi, who spoke on behalf of the Commander, 81 Division Provost Group, Brigadier General Mohammed Abubakar, revealed this while addressing journalists at the Division in Victoria Island, Lagos on Monday, the punch report.

According to the punch, Some of the suspects arrested  were wearing military uniforms, allegedly escorting vehicles to evade security checks and providing security for some Very Important Persons.

Parading the suspects, Owoyomi disclosed that their actions had caused serious damage to the reputation of the army as some of the suspects earlier arrested and handed over to the police, were seen again perpetuating the same offence.

NSCDC HOURNORS SEVEN PERSONNEL FOR DEDICATION TO DUTY IN ANAMBRA STATE

The State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Maku Olatunde has recognized and honoured seven personnel of the command who were exceptional in their contributions in ensuring safety of lives and property of Anambra residents.

 

This was disclosed in a statement made available to media organisations through the command’s spokesperson SC Okadigbo Edwin.

 

According to the statement, Maku stated that their commendable act depicted the values of the Corps, during a ceremony held at the State Command Headquarters, Awka, on Wednesday.

 

” Let me congratulate the award recipients for all that they have done in executing the core mandate of NSCDC in the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure.

 

” I am happy you distinguished yourselves in the month of March 2024. This award is in recognition of your dedication to duty and in upholding the ethics of the profession in service delivery.

 

” Management and I recognize what you have done and this honour therefore is to show our appreciation to you, he said.

 

The NSCDC State boss encouraged other officers and me to emulate good virtues of the honorees in order to enhance the security of lives and property saying that good deeds yields better results and ought to be emulated.

 

Maku reiterated that management will not hesitate to discipline recalcitrant personnel who compromise the standard operating procedure.

 

The senior officers recognized for the Month of March are Deputy Commandant; Orji Ogbu ( Overall best performing officer), HOD; Planning , Research and Statistics Department, Deputy Commandant;Akaachia Godwin, Ag. DC Operations, ACC Amadi Marcel of Intelligence and Investigation Department, SC Oduenyi Ifeanyi of Anti- Corruption and Transparency Unit ( ACTU) and Assistant Superintendent of Corps II Ibenwa Joy, Onitsha South Divisional Office while the junior officers are Assistant Inspector of Corps; Ibeagha Obiamaka, and Corps Assistant; Ngige Augusta, SA to State Commandant.

 

Appreciating the State Commandant for the recognition, Deputy Commandant Orji Ogbu promised to rededicate themselves to the job and remain steadfast in their commitment to serving the nation with integrity, professionalism and diligence.

EASTER: NSCDC DEPLOYS 1,051 IN ANAMBRA , BEEFS UP SECURITY AROUND CRITICAL NATIONAL ASSETS AND INFRASTRUCTURE

In an effort aimed at ensuring safety of lives and property during, before and after the forthcoming Easter celebration, the Anambra State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Maku Olatunde has ordered the deployment of 1,051 officers and men across various critical national assets and infrastructure, worship centres , celebration venues, parks, recreational centres, and other strategic points.

 

 

A statement by the command’s spokesperson SC Okadigbo Edwin revealed that Maku stated this on Wednesday at the State Command Headquarters, Awka while having a strategic meeting with the management team, Heads of Departments and Units, Area Commanders, Divisional Officers , Heads of formation and Tactical Teams Commanders to review the already existing security framework and to set in motion plans for water- tight security during the Easter celebration.

 

According to the statement, the personnel drawn from the Rapid Response Squad , Counter Terrorism Unit, Disaster Management Unit, Investigation and Intelligence Department, Female Strike Force, and Anti Vandalism Squad are expected to provide both overt and covert operations, round the clock surveillance, pin downs, and mobile visibility preventive patrol in all identified flashpoints and other strategic locations to neutralize and subdue any unforeseen circumstances during the festive season.

 

The State Commandant through an effective operational order for the operation directed all Area Commanders, DOs, Heads of Formation and Tactical Commanders to deploy personnel and operational assets to areas of security interest within their respective areas of responsibility to avoid mischief makers showing their ugly faces and causing any form of mayhem for law-abiding citizens.

 

NigeriaUpdates understands that, officers and men deployed for this assignment are under strict instructions of the State NSCDC helmsman to be professional and courteous to law -abiding citizens but firm to suppress all criminal elements who might want to take advantage of the season to perpetuate their unholy acts.

 

Extending his felicitations to the residents and good people of the state, especially the Christian faithful, Maku called on members of the public to cooperate with NSCDC and other security agencies, as adequate security measures have been emplaced to guarantee a hitch-free celebration.

DANGOTE MIXER TRUCK WITH BRAKE FAILURE CRUSH A WOMAN AT ABULE-EGBA

……Truck driver arrested and handed over to Police by Lastma Officials.

 

 

A Dagote Mixer truck (KANO MDB 531 XA) with brake failure today crushed an innocent woman around Abule-Egba inward Mobil Filling Station beside Jubilee Bridge Opposite Zenith Bank, Lagos.

 

The Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA Mr. Adebayo Taofiq confirmed that the trapped (Female) dead body was evacuated underneath the Dangote truck by Officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and immediately handed over to Police men from Oko-Oba Police Station.

 

Preliminary investigations revealed that the Dangote Mixer truck while on a high speed lost control as a result of a brake failure and while trying to swerved into a drainage channel crushed an innocent woman.

 

While the truck driver was immediately apprehended by Lastma Officials, Police men from Oko-Oba Police Station provided security backup while the rescue operations lasted.

 

Lastma Abdul Salam Nurudeen (Alpha, Zone 19 Abule-Egba/Tollgate) who led the recovery operations confirmed that his team were supported by other road sympathizers to removed the trapped dead body.

 

The General Manager of LASTMA Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki however warned truck owners/drivers to always ensure their trucks are properly checked including the braking system before embarking on any journey within or outside Lagos.
