The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC), amidst other strategic plans, has called for closer partnership and collaboration with the Nigerian Police Force, in tackling emerging security threats and criminalities within Anambra and Enugu States respectively.

This call was made in Ukpo , Anambra State on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 by the NSCDC, Assistant Commandant General( ACG) superintending Zone K, Headquarters Awka, ACG Solomon Iyamu,  while on a courtesy visit to the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 13 Headquarters, Ukpo, Anambra State, AIG Godwin Ndidi Aghaulor.

According to the Zone K ACG, the visit was part of his familiarization process of creating strong bond between sister agencies within the Zone.

He explained that his visit will not only strengthen the existing cordial collaboration and cooperation between the two agencies but also deepen the understanding and perspective of officers and men on harmonious coexistence.

“My aim here is to familiarize myself with your office , appreciate the Nigerian Police for assisting the NSCDC thus far in the discharge of its mandate and to further strengthen the bond between us . Security of the nation is so paramount that all security agencies must be on the same page, close rank and work with one mind to achieve a common goal. We can achieve this feat of course through persistent cooperation between us” he asserted.

ACG Iyamu further thanked the AIG for receiving his team describing it as a mark of unity and acceptance of NSCDC as partners in ensuring peace and stability of the two states. He advocated for the strengthening and improved intelligence sharing between the two Zones for efficient service delivery.

In his response, the Nigerian Police Zone 13 AIG, Mr. Godwin Aghaulor thanked the ACG for the visit and assured him of unflinching support .

“I am very pleased to receive you in my office, what you did is normal and commendable. We are working for the good of Nigerians, and for same purpose. It is therefore proper for us to synergize and collaborate. I assure you of my operational support and assistance . No security agency can fight insecurity alone but when we come together, we will achieve much more than we would have done individually. I look forward for a better working relationship ahead” he said.

AIG Aghaulor while acknowledging the indispensable role of NSCDC in the overall security architecture of the nation, promised to support the NSCDC in making the Zone safe and secure for economic development.

In the ACG’s entourage were Comdt. Edwin Osuala, Anambra State Commandant, Comdt. Edwin Ugwuja, 2ic to ACG, DCC Ugwuogo Eme Use, DC Investigation and Intelligence Dept Zone K, DCC Idang John, DC Ops Zone K, DSC Chukwuma Umeuwa , PA to ACG among others.









Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has warned mass transit bus drivers/Owners against contravening traffic laws.


The General Manager of LASTMA Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki disclosed this on Wednesday during a courtesy visit by Operators (Drivers/Owners) of Federal Mass Transit Buses to his Office at Oshodi, Lagos.


Mr. Bakare-Oki stated that the Agency would not compromise any form of illegality by bus or private cars drivers parking indiscriminately on roadside, Kerbs, Walkways, setbacks thereby obstructing the free movement of vehicles including other road users.


“I want to state categorically that you should ensure that your members are trained and re-trained so as not to run foul of traffic regulations”


“The newly introduced Traffic Management Solutions (TMS) cameras would bring sanity, transparency, orderliness, civility and voluntary compliance on traffic management and control on our roads across Lagos”


Earlier in his address the Chairman of Operators (Drivers/Owners of Federal Mass Transit buses Mr. Abed Achewa and his team acknowledged the importance of LASTMA Officers in improving travel time and ensuring free flow of traffic on Lagos roads.


While congratulating the new Ag. General Manager of LASTMA, Mr Achewa called for a more collaboration that would promotes safety of motoring public.


He however confirmed that the association have commenced proper enlightenment campaign on the need for their members to comply with the directive of the Government as enshrined into the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law 2018.

She called on citizens to show kindness and friendliness to security agencies in this time and season where the cloud thickens with so much of darkness so that in the end we can create a new light out of it. On the balance, security agencies should also become closer to the citizens and take on more behavioural approach to solve looming or foreseen challenges before they becloud the people in their inhabitation.

The State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command, Maku Olatunde has called on religious leaders to take the issue of security seriously, support NSCDC and other security agencies in their unrelenting efforts to protect lives and property of citizens.


Maku made the call on Wednesday 28th February 2024 while on a courtesy visit to the Catholic Bishop of Awka, His Lordship, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, at the Catholic Secretariat Awka.


This was disclosed in a statement released by the command’s spokesperson SC Okadigbo Edwin on Wednesday.


He urged religious leaders whose significant roles cannot be over emphasized to utilize their positions in advocating, educating and instilling morals on the congregation not to indulge in crimes or allow insecurity in the society to fester with their actions .


The State Commandant noted that NSCDC in collaboration with other security agencies are working in harmony to improve peaceful coexistence in the state and implored clerics to offer prayers, be security conscious and create an enabling environment for effective security of places of worship.


He beseeched on church leaders to assist security agencies by sharing credible and actionable intelligence that can nib crime in the bud within their domains or worship centers.


Responding, the Catholic Bishop of Awka, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor thanked the NSCDC State helmsman for the visit which he described as timely and appreciated.


He assured the NSCDC state boss of strengthened collaboration, saying, the Catholic Church is ready and willing to partner NSCDC in the formation of people’s conscience.


“We are partners in progress and our position in the Catholic Church is to make your work less cumbersome.


“We are going to help you to talk to the conscience of people through inculcating morals in them. If our country can get better citizens, governance will be very easy.


“If everybody knows that killing is evil, why would they engage in that , Insecurity does nobody good ” he said.


Bishop Ezeokafor prayed for the leadership of the Corps , the State Commandant and his team and wished them well noting that their success is dependent on God.


The State Commandant was accompanied on the visit by Deputy Commandant, Orji Ogbu, Deputy Commandant Ike George, Deputy Commandant Prominence Ukaobi and Assistant Commandant Fidelia Enunwe.
