OAUSTECH VC Unveils New Programmes, Infrastructure, and Staff Benefits

The Vice-Chancellor of Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Prof. Temiloluwa Emmanuel Ologunorisa, has outlined transformative developments aimed at advancing academic excellence, improving staff welfare, and enhancing infrastructure.

During the university’s monthly prayer meeting on Wednesday, 5th February 2025, Prof. Ologunorisa announced the introduction of new academic programmes for the 2025/2026 session.

These include Pharmacy, Nautical Science, Marine Economics and Finance, Ports and Shipping Management, and Maritime Transport and Logistics.

According to the VC, these programmes will equip students with specialized knowledge and practical skills to enhance their employability and national development.

Commitment to Staff Welfare

Prof. Ologunorisa reassured staff that salary payments remain a priority, and outstanding promotion arrears will soon be settled.

He also confirmed that “the new minimum wage will be implemented as soon as the university receives increased government subvention.”

Digital Innovation: E-Transcripts for Graduates

In a move to modernize academic record management, OAUSTECH has introduced electronic transcripts (E-transcripts) for graduates.

This initiative aims to streamline credential verification and authentication, reducing delays in academic documentation processes.

Upcoming 3rd Convocation Ceremony

The VC announced that OAUSTECH’s 3rd Convocation Ceremony is scheduled for 4th March 2025.

The event will mark a significant milestone as it will feature the graduation of the first set of Postgraduate students from the Postgraduate Diploma in STEM Education (PGDE) and Masters of Science programmes.

Expressing his gratitude to the university community, Prof. Ologunorisa acknowledged their dedication and support over the past year. He also appreciated their condolences following the passing of his father.

Spiritual Message at Monthly Prayer Meeting

The meeting also featured a message by Dr. Simon Adesina, former Head of the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture Technology. Speaking on “The Depth of God’s Love,” Dr. Adesina encouraged staff and students to strengthen their faith and spiritual growth.

To enhance teaching and research facilities, Prof. Ologunorisa revealed that ongoing construction projects include:

These projects aim to provide world-class infrastructure that will improve the learning experience and research capabilities of students and faculty.
