In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, Governor Aiyedatiwa commended the Muslim Ummah for their devotion during the holy month.

The Governor urged citizens to carry the lessons of Ramadan into their daily lives, emphasizing that the true essence of the fasting period goes beyond observance.
“The true essence of Ramadan lies not only in its observance, but in the continuity of its lessons in our daily lives,” he said.
Celebrating Responsibly
Governor Aiyedatiwa also called for moderation in celebrations, highlighting the importance of vigilance and personal safety.
“As we mark this joyous occasion, I urge our people to celebrate in moderation, remain watchful, and be mindful of their environment, in the interest of personal and public safety,” he said.
Religious leaders were reminded of their role in fostering social harmony, encouraging them to continue guiding their communities toward peace and unity.

NIMASA DG Urges Unity, Compassion as Muslims Celebrate Eid-el-Fitri
The Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dayo Mobereola, has congratulated Muslim faithful on Eid el-Fitr, urging Nigerians to embrace compassion, discipline and service to humanity.
A call for unity and reflection
In a message marking the end of Ramadan, Dr Mobereola described Eid as a period of “deep spiritual reflection, sacrifice, and renewed commitment to faith and humanity.”
He said the lessons of the fasting period — including selflessness and unity — remain essential for national development in a diverse country like Nigeria.
“As we celebrate the end of the holy month of fasting, may this blessed season of sacrifice, reflection and unity fill our hearts with gratitude and strengthen our bonds as one people,” he said.
“May this Eid bring peace, prosperity and renewed hope to our nation.”
Why it matters
Eid el-Fitr, one of the most significant Islamic celebrations, comes at a time when Nigeria continues to face economic pressures and social divisions.
Public figures and institutions often use the occasion to promote unity and shared values across religious and ethnic lines.
Analysts say such messages, when backed by policy and action, can help strengthen social cohesion and public trust.
Emphasising national values
Dr Mobereola urged Nigerians to uphold values such as empathy, charity and communal unity beyond the festive period.
“Let us continue to uphold the values of compassion, discipline and service to the nation,” he added.
He also called on citizens to work collectively towards building a safer and more prosperous country.
Industry and public perspective
Maritime analysts note that NIMASA, as a key agency in Nigeria’s blue economy, plays a role beyond regulation including promoting national values and stability within the maritime sector.
Public affairs commentators say messages like this resonate strongly with workers in critical industries, where discipline and cooperation are essential.
What’s next
As Eid celebrations continue across Nigeria, attention is expected to shift towards how leaders and institutions translate these messages into tangible improvements in governance, economic stability and public welfare.

Adebola Williams at 40: Ooni of Ife, Bosun Tijani, Mo Abudu lead tributes at Lagos thanksgiving
Media entrepreneur and public strategist Adebola Williams has marked his 40th birthday with a thanksgiving service in Lagos, attended by some of Nigeria’s most influential figures.
The event, held at This Present House, brought together leaders from government, business, media and the creative industry, launching what Williams described as a year-long reflection titled “The Year I Turn 40.”
Among those present were Ooni of Ife, Nigeria’s Minister of Communications Bosun Tijani, former Ogun State governor Olusegun Osoba, and senator Gbenga Daniel.
Also in attendance were media executive Mo Abudu, business leader Bola Adesola, philanthropist Shade Okoya, and former education minister Oby Ezekwesili.
A service built on faith, nation and family
The thanksgiving was structured around three themes: faith, nation and family.
The first session focused on gratitude, with worship led by gospel singer Mercy Chinwo.
The second centred on Nigeria, where Mr Tijani delivered a reading and reflected on national development.
The final segment turned to family, with tributes and worship led by Adeyinka Alaseyori.
“From a silver spoon to a wooden spoon”
In an emotional address, Williams spoke about his personal journey, highlighting moments of privilege and hardship.
“From a silver spoon to a wooden spoon,” he said, describing a period of financial struggle that shaped his outlook on life.
He also shared how his mother built and lost a business, an experience he said taught him resilience and reinvention.
Tributes from leaders and industry figures
Speakers at the event praised Williams’ character, influence and commitment to Nigeria.
Mo Abudu described him as thoughtful and wise, while Oby Ezekwesili highlighted his “unwavering belief in Nigeria” and integrity.
Business executive Kola Adesina commended his loyalty and reliability.
Figures from the entertainment industry, including Rita Dominic, Toke Makinwa and Sola Sobowale, were also present.
Interfaith gathering continues tradition
Following the service, Williams hosted an Iftar gathering, continuing a tradition he said has lasted more than a decade.
The event, held in partnership with Knorr, brought together Muslim professionals, actors and business leaders.
Among attendees were actors Femi Adebayo and Lateef Adedimeji.
Williams described both gatherings as symbolic.
“These two sacred gatherings — thanksgiving and prayer — felt like the most meaningful way to open the curtain on this new chapter of life.”
