Ondo North 2027: Ajipe Submits APC Senatorial Forms, Warns Ignoring Owo/Ose Could Cost Party Votes
A leading senatorial aspirant in Ondo North, Chief (Dr.) Alexander Oluremi Ajipe, has formally submitted his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms at the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring his entry into the 2027 race.
But alongside his declaration, Ajipe issued a strong warning to party leaders, saying failure to recognise the political weight of Owo and Ose local government areas could cost the party dearly at the polls.
He described his ambition as a push for fairness rather than personal gain.
“For 20 years, Owo has waited, mobilised, and stayed loyal to the party,” Ajipe said.
“We have supported others, carried the party on our shoulders, and now we are ready, united, and demanding equity. This is not a plea, it is an assertion of our rightful turn.”
Why It Matters
Ondo North Senatorial District is considered a strategic stronghold in Ondo State politics, with Owo and Ose reportedly forming the largest voting bloc.
Ajipe argued that ignoring these areas in the APC’s candidate selection process could weaken the party’s chances in 2027.
“Any attempt to sideline these two areas is not only unjust, it is electoral suicide for the APC.”
Political analysts say internal party disputes and perceptions of injustice have historically led to voter apathy and defections in Nigerian elections.
Warnings Over Party Primaries
Ajipe also cautioned against imposing candidates, warning that such moves could open the door for opposition parties like the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP).
“A rigged or imposed primary will breed disillusionment, trigger defections, and fuel voter apathy,” he said.
“What we have seen in other states can replay here if the party fails to conduct a free, fair, and transparent primary.”
Drawing from his role in the 2023 presidential campaign, Ajipe said grassroots engagement remains key to electoral success.
“Equity delayed for 20 years is justice denied. Give us a level playing field… Ignore the call for fairness, and the party will pay a heavy price at the polls.”
Second Development: Ajipe Congratulates Faleke
In a separate statement, Ajipe congratulated James Abiodun Faleke on his appointment to the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC).
He described the move as recognition of Faleke’s experience and contributions to party development.
“Honourable Faleke’s appointment is not only a personal achievement but also a boost to the APC’s internal structure and vision for the future.”
Ajipe said Faleke’s role would help strengthen party unity and strategic planning ahead of the next general elections.
Industry & Public Reactions
Party supporters in Ondo North have echoed calls for fairness, with some grassroots members saying rotational representation could stabilise the party.
However, APC officials have yet to respond publicly to Ajipe’s remarks.
What’s Next
Attention now shifts to the APC leadership and how it manages its primary process in Ondo North.
Observers say the party’s handling of internal zoning and inclusiveness could shape its electoral strength not only in Ondo State but across the South-West.

Ondo 2027: Aiyedatiwa Launches Statewide Campaign Structure for Tinubu Re-Election
Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has inaugurated a statewide political mobilisation network aimed at securing the re-election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
The initiative, known as the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, was launched in Akure and described by the governor as a structured grassroots platform rather than a symbolic exercise.
He said the programme represents “a movement of conviction, organisation, and disciplined mobilisation,” marking a shift from political intent to coordinated action.
Why it matters
The launch signals an early and organised build-up to the 2027 general elections in Nigeria, particularly within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Political analysts say such early mobilisation could shape voter engagement, influence narratives around federal policies, and strengthen party dominance at grassroots level.
The move also highlights increasing alignment between state governments and federal leadership ahead of the next election cycle.
‘Mobilisation is not noise-making’
Governor Aiyedatiwa stressed that the initiative is designed to operate across all 18 local government areas, wards, and communities in Ondo State.
“Mobilisation is not noise-making but structure.”
He urged participants to communicate government policies clearly, using local dialects where necessary, while maintaining discipline and unity.
Uzodinma: ‘Tinubu rescued Nigeria from the abyss’
The Director-General of the initiative and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, described the platform as a strategic national project.
Represented by Adedayo Adeyeye, he said the current administration had stabilised governance and improved revenue generation.
“The current administration has implemented bold economic reforms that stabilised governance.”
He added that reforms had increased federal allocations to states and improved salary and pension payments.
APC: ‘Not persuasion, but consolidation’
Ondo APC chairman Babatunde Kolawole described the event as a consolidation of existing political strength rather than an attempt to win new support.
He expressed confidence that the party would deliver one million votes for President Tinubu in the state.
Grassroots strategy and structure
State coordinator Victor Olabimtan said the initiative would function through a multi-level structure spanning local governments and wards.
He outlined a system involving:
25-member grassroots units
A broader 400-member framework
Town hall meetings, roadshows, and stakeholder engagements
He added that the platform would also focus on countering misinformation and improving communication between government and citizens.
Economic reforms and policy messaging
Supporters of the initiative highlighted key federal projects and reforms, including infrastructure expansion, education improvements, and economic diversification.
Among them is the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, often cited as a flagship development effort under the current administration.
Analysts note that framing these policies effectively at the grassroots level could be crucial in shaping public perception ahead of 2027.
Industry and public perspectives
Political observers say the early rollout of campaign structures reflects a growing trend in Nigerian politics—where governance and campaign messaging increasingly overlap.
Some civil society voices, however, warn that political mobilisation should be balanced with governance delivery to maintain public trust.
Others argue that grassroots engagement, if transparent, could improve civic participation and awareness of public policies.
What’s next
The Renewed Hope Ambassadors are expected to begin statewide engagements immediately, focusing on:
Community outreach
Policy education campaigns
Political coordination ahead of 2027
The initiative could serve as a template for similar mobilisation efforts across other states.

Igbo Community Backs Ayo Da-Silva with APC Nomination Form Purchase in Lagos
The Igbo community in Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency in Lagos has purchased an All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination form for former lawmaker Ayo Da-Silva, in a move widely seen as a strong endorsement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The gesture comes weeks after Da-Silva defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), describing his return as a “homecoming.”
Why It Matters
Amuwo Odofin is home to one of the largest Igbo populations in Lagos, making the community a critical voting bloc.
Their decision to independently purchase the nomination form signals more than support—it highlights Da-Silva’s cross-ethnic appeal in a constituency often shaped by identity politics.
Political analysts say such backing could reshape electoral dynamics in the area, where the APC has struggled to secure a federal seat in recent years.
“A Declaration of Where We Stand”
A representative of the Igbo community said the decision was unanimous.
“Ayo Da-Silva is not a stranger to us. He is a man we have walked with, a man who has stood with the Igbo people in this constituency through every season,” the representative said.
“When our people deliberated, the resolution was unanimous, this is a man we can trust with our votes, with our future, and with our voice in Abuja. That is why we did not wait to be asked. We purchased the form ourselves as a declaration of where we stand.”
Political Background
Da-Silva previously won the Amuwo Odofin federal constituency seat in 2011 under the PDP, although the election was later annulled.
Despite that setback, his grassroots influence has remained significant across key areas such as FESTAC Town, Satellite Town, and Kirikiri.
His recent defection to the APC was backed by party stakeholders, including Musiliu Obanikoro, who described the move as a turning point for the party’s fortunes in the constituency.
A Symbolic Relationship
Da-Silva holds the traditional Igbo chieftaincy title “Nwane di Namba Ndigbo”—loosely translated as “The Number One Son of the Igbo People.”
Supporters say the title reflects years of engagement with the community, strengthening trust beyond party lines.
Industry & Political Reactions
Political observers in Lagos say the development reflects a broader shift toward issue-based and relationship-driven politics.
Some analysts argue that community-led endorsements like this could become more influential than party structures alone.
Others note that the APC’s chances in Amuwo Odofin may improve significantly if Da-Silva consolidates both grassroots and cross-ethnic support.
What’s Next
Attention now turns to the APC’s candidate selection process and how other aspirants respond.
Campaign activities are expected to intensify in the coming months as parties begin early positioning ahead of 2027.
For voters, the key question will be whether symbolic endorsements translate into votes on election day.

Ebonyi APC Row: Eze Defends Umahi as Party Adopts Direct Primaries Nationwide
A former chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has urged party leaders in Ebonyi State to stop criticising the Minister of Works, Senator David Nweze Umahi, amid growing internal tensions.
Eze’s intervention follows a statement by the Ebonyi APC accusing Umahi of remarks that could undermine party unity.
He said such criticism was unnecessary and risked deepening divisions within the party.
“Resorting to blame game, name-calling and unsubstantiated allegations is utterly unnecessary and could breed deeper acrimony and chaos,” Eze said.
What sparked the dispute
The controversy stems from comments attributed to Umahi in which he encouraged internal democracy within the party.
According to the Ebonyi APC, the minister’s remarks could “destabilise the unity and discipline painstakingly built within the party”.
The party also warned that encouraging aspirants to pursue political ambitions without the governor’s approval could trigger internal crisis.
“Such a position… is capable of igniting disunity and internal crisis,” the party said.
Eze defends Umahi
Eze, who said he no longer belongs to the APC, described Umahi as a key figure in building the party in Ebonyi.
He argued that the minister had done nothing wrong by expressing his views on internal democracy.
“He cannot stand aloof and allow the person and personality of Senator David Nweze Umahi… to be disparaged,” Eze said.
He added that Umahi’s contributions to the development of Ebonyi State and the APC should not be overlooked.
Umahi’s position on party unity
In his remarks, Umahi emphasised loyalty to both the President and the state governor, while calling for unity among party members.
“Dialogue and negotiation should be adopted… and where consensus is not reached, then direct primaries must take place,” he said.
He also clarified that he does not favour any individual aspirant.
“I have no interest in any aspirant other than my support for governor and president,” Umahi added.
National APC stance: Direct primaries
Eze pointed to what he described as a broader endorsement of Umahi’s position by the APC’s national leadership.
According to him, the party has adopted direct primaries for selecting candidates nationwide, ruling out consensus arrangements.
“There will be no room for consensus candidacy, emphasizing a commitment to transparency and internal democracy,” he quoted the party as saying.
Why it matters
The disagreement highlights ongoing tensions within political parties in Nigeria over candidate selection processes.
Direct primaries are often seen as more inclusive, but they can also intensify competition and internal rivalries.
For voters, the outcome could influence the transparency of candidate selection ahead of future elections.
Industry & Public Reactions
Political analysts say disputes like this reflect broader struggles within parties to balance leadership control and democratic processes.
Some observers argue that enforcing internal democracy could strengthen party credibility, while others warn it may deepen factional divides if not carefully managed.
What’s next
Eze has called on Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru to intervene and restore order within the party.
He also urged party officials to avoid personal attacks on Umahi, warning that such actions could escalate tensions further.
