A VERY SHORT LETTER TO HON. COMMISSIONER FOR WORKS AND TRANSPORT

Dear @⁨+234 803 220 5345⁩

“That Olaiya fly over project may not be in vain”

Six days ago, the December deadline Osun government through its commissioner for works and transport, Engr. Remi Omowaiye gave for the completion of Ola-iya Fly Over ended.

As at now, the Ola-Iya fly over is still closed and under construction. Citizens of the state especially motorists and residents of Osogbo who are daily users of roads connected to the flyover are tensed, frustrated and depressed. I was in Osogbo last week and I witnessed the hardship they face everyday owing to the delay in construction of the flyover.

Till now, the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Remi Omowaiye and the contractor who is in charge of the flyover have not deemed it fit to address the citizens of the state. They have not only taken the citizens especially the road users for granted but also refused to update citizens about the construction or rolled out another excuses for the delay.

Is the Olaiya flyover achieveable?

Is paucity of funds still the cause of slow pace of construction?

Has the contractor and government official agreed to technical faults listed out by critics hence working on them which is possibly the cause of delay?

Is the government not moved by the sufferings of the road users on daily basis?

Is the fly over truly one of excuses and unending deadlines?

Has the timing of the project being postponed till electioneering period?

Thanks.

The Olubadan-designate, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin is ill and not physically fit to rule as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The Otun-Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Abimbola Ajibola, stated this on Tuesday.

Olubadan stool became vacant after the demise of the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, who reigned for two years and died at 81.

Olakulehin would rank among the oldest monarchs to ascend to the position.

Ajibola, who made this known in a briefing at his Sanyo private residence in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, said the Olubadan-Designate be given time to get well before he is pronounced.

He said: “What is in need for hurry? Someone (Olakulehin) we have not seen. He has not spoken with us. He has not spoken with Ibadan people.

“I am his second in command, I’m his lieutenant. He has not called me to say, ‘My Otun, I’m back. So, tell your people. And when are you seeing me?’ They are just forcing him because of their own selfish interest.”
