Tinubu’s Preference for Adversaries of Rivers APC Over Party Loyalists, Strange ~ Eze

…Laments the Exclusion of Senator Magnus Abe in the Scheme of Things

…Says Abe was at the Forefront and Fought Wickedly in the Decimation of APC in Rivers State and Should be Rewarded Like Wike.

Erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New People’s Democratic Party (nPDP) and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze says it is saddening to learn that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who currently presides over the affairs of Nigeria under the platform of the APC has settled to place preference on the empowerment of members of the opposition People’s Democratic Party in Rivers State and other agents who worked for and with them to trouble the soul of the Rivers State Chapter of the ruling party.

In a statement made available to the media, the party Chief said the President finds pleasure in aligning himself with former Gov. Wike who was a major architect of the problems and backbone of the crisis entrepreneurs and saboteurs within the the party whose dissidence almost tore the APC into pieces.

Recall that the this ill-action and unsavory treatment on the party by the President angered some segments of Rivers people including the state APC Youths who took to the streets, protesting against the injustice.

According to Eze, by appointing Wike as a cabinet member and boasting at the glare of public that the former Governor is not only his Minister but a very key Special Adviser, Tinubu has unapologetically expressed his devotion to mete out grave injustice on members of the APC in Rivers State who fought sacrificially to resist the forces of opposition and who were determined to frustrate the party out of relevance.

Eze who noted this time reveals a lot hinted that the unfolding events clearly validates previous opinion that Mr. Bola Ahmed Tinubu had a hand in the crises that confronted the Rivers APC this past eight years; a battle that saw Wike deploy state resources and other mercenary including the courts against the party.

Recalling how Wike used the judiciary to stifle the party, Eze brought back to fore comments credited to one Tony Okocha, Wike’s chief lobbyist, that the Rivers State Judiciary became a laughing stock and an object of mockery because Wike used Judges to deal with the Rivers APC during the crisis when he was still Governor. Tony Okocha, an avowed anti-progressive agent, in his dishonesties, has earned himself an appointment into the NDDC board.

The above notwithstanding, Wike’s emergence as Cabinet member is not only an insult to APC members but also to those party faithful who died in the struggle to water and sustain the party in Rivers State all these years.

Reeling on his antecedents, the APC stalwart noted that if Wike could attempt to destroy such a great political party like PDP, then destroying both Tinubu and APC will be like siping a glass of wine; if he could abuse and harass his benefactor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, then abusing and deriding Tinubu will be like a walk in the park at the appropriate time; If he could ignore President Jonathan and his wife after they imposed him on Rivers State and her people as their Governor, then be sure that ignoring Tinubu will not be an issue. 2027 is his target.

Hence appointments in the present APC administration is justified by ones inputs in destroying APC in Rivers State, Eze said it then unwise and unjust for his friend, Senator Magnus Abe, not to be considered for a reward.

It was Abe who kickstarted the decimation process of APC since 2015 till date and he is yet to be appointed as a Minister or given any reasonable appointment in lieu to his devious attack against Rives State APC. He noted that if Cross River, Delta and others with less political influence and lower relevance in the politics of Nigeria can have two ministerial slots, what then stops the President to include Abe into the cabinet and double slot for Rivers State.

The inputs of Abe in the intra-party crisis that engulfed Rivers APC cannot be overemphasized. Apart from refusing to contest the 2019 Senate Seat that would have made him Deputy Senate President after the seat was zoned to the South South, he again refused to contest the 2023 Senate Seat that would have made him the Senate President. Instead he preferred a fight against Amaechi to ensure that APC is reduced in the state.

Eze maintained that not recognizing Abe for his courage in fighting against a party which membership he claims will be unjust and unacceptable. Abe should be rewarded just like his other conspirators like Wike and Okocha who are now enjoying the compensations of their dirty records.

Hadiza Sabo Jimeta, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, has expressed optimism that the party would retain power in the 2027 election.

Nigeria Updates reports that Jemita made this known while addressing newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja, in preparations to launch ‘Iconic Legacy Megazine’ capturing the political life of the APC deputy national chairman (North), Ali Bukar Dalori.

She noted that the party’s national chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Dalori, and other members of the National Working Committee (NWC), would heal the wounds in the party, irrespective of the political crisis and reposition it to retain power in 2027.

Jimeta added the present NWC has what it takes to unite the party and make it more viable in the nation’s political landscape.

She said, “There is no political party that has no issues, especially the big parties, but I believe APC under Ganduje and Dalori will be one; they will heal the wounds and prepare the party to win the 2027 elections.”
Ganduje’s Administration Employed JSS Students Into Civil Service

Meanwhile, Governor Abba Yusuf-led Kano State government has revealed how the past administration of Abdullahi Ganduje allegedly employed unqualified persons, including Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) Students, into the Civil Service.

Nigeria Updates understands that the current administration directed the suspension of the salaries of some civil servants.

Subsequently, a committee was set up to screen and verify employment conducted by the immediate past administration.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Abudullahi Baffa Bichi, while addressing newsmen on Friday, said the committee found out that the last administration undertook mass employment without recourse to necessary guidelines and service regulation.

He noted that the committee recommended the dismissal of unqualified persons, who were over 3,000.

Despite Tinubu’s Directive Some Ondo Lawmakers Bent On Shoving Akeredolu

Published

The last has not been heard of the crisis rocking the Ondo State Government despite the peace deal brokered by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Nigeria Updates gathered that despite Tinubu directing warring parties to maintain the status quo, moves are still on the way to allegedly install the Ondo State Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, as Governor.

Recall that there was tension in the state chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Ondo State Executive Council over a plot to unseat Governor Rotimi Akeredolu by some lawmakers who insisted that the Deputy Governor should be pronounced as Acting Governor, contrary to the terms of the agreement.

President Tinubu, during a meeting with the Akeredolu and Ayedatiwa camps at the weekend, urged them to sheathe their swords and allow peace to reign.

At the weekend’s meeting were Ayedatiwa, party chairman Ade Adetimehin, Secretary to Government Oladunni Odu, Oladiji, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, and others.

Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Tinubu, Ajuri Ngelale, in a statement after the meeting, said the President advised that the status quo be maintained.

He added: “This means that Governor Akeredolu remains Chief Executive of the State, Aiyedatiwa remains Deputy Governor, and members of the State Executive Council continue their respective duties, even as the leadership of the House of Assembly and the APC Chapter in Ondo State is preserved.“

Despite the intervention of the President, reports have emerged that eleven lawmakers are still pushing to make Aiyedatiwa Acting Governor.

The 11 lawmakers loyal to Aiyedatiwa have allegedly started to woo Akeredolu’s loyalists to their side to get majority support to pronounce the deputy governor as acting governor.

Speaking to The Nation, one of the lawmakers, who spoke anonymously, said: “On Sunday, a number of us received a call from the deputy governor. He informed us that he must be declared acting governor on Tuesday.

“When we reminded him that it wasn’t part of the resolutions reached at the meeting with the President, he said the President can’t tell us how to run Ondo State.

“All efforts to make the deputy governor understand that the resolutions would only engender peace and allow the state to move forward failed as he yelled and said over his dead body would Akeredolu remain as governor.

“The deputy governor has failed to understand that the President has given the best political solution to the issue at hand. I wonder what Mr. Deputy Governor wants again. The agreement is that you should go and do your job. Represent your boss and get the people together. Is that too hard?

“Why is he hell-bent on becoming acting governor? Is he doing it in the interest of the people of the state? The answer is definitely no.

“Aiyedatiwa believes that the only way for him to become governor is if he forcefully takes power from Akeredolu now.

“The painful part is the unbridled affront to the President’s directive that the status quo should remain. President Tinubu is a man who should be respected in Ondo State.

“Especially if you are a loyal member of the APC, you must understand that Tinubu has invested so much in the party over the years.”

The party chairman, Adetimehin, said party leaders who met with the president were committed to the peace plan, adding that no politician in the state can move against the resolution reached with the President.

He said: “There’s nothing of such. No one dared go against the resolution reached with the President. Can anyone go against what President Tinubu has pronounced? That agreement stands and nothing more.”

Jandor Heads To Supreme Court To Challenge Sanwo-Olu’s Election As Lagos Governor

Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have vowed to challenge the Court of Appeal ruling affirming Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s victory.

The Lagos PDP Publicity Secretary, Hakeem Amode, made this known in an interview with reporters in Lagos on Monday.

Amode stated that the party was heading to the Supreme Court to challenge the affirmation of Sanwo-Olu’s election as Lagos governor.

The publicity secretary said that justice has not been properly served in the party’s governorship candidate’s petitions against Governor Sanwo-Olu’s re-election.

He said, “We are challenging the ruling of the Appeal Court, affirming Sanwo-Olu as winner at the Supreme Court. In a couple of days, our petitions will get to the Supreme Court.”

Recall that the Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos on November 15 dismissed issues raised by Adediran against the ruling of the election petition tribunal in the state.

The appellate court followed the ruling of the tribunal and dismissed Adediran’s 34 grounds of appeal against Sanwo-Olu’s victory in the March 18 governorship election.

The court ruled that on the alleged non-qualification of Sanwo-Olu and his running mate, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, it could not litigate on the issue because it was a pre-election matter.

The court further held that the appellants failed to prove the allegation that Sanwo-Olu forged his West African Examination Council (WAEC) certificate.
