Nigerian Afrobeat superstar, Wizkid, has broken his silence on why Puma chose Davido over him for their recent endorsement deal.
In a fiery response to a critic on social media, Wizkid revealed that he turned down Puma’s offer because they couldn’t meet his financial demands.
A user, @Nelson Epega, had accused Wizkid of being jealous and frustrated over Davido’s new deal with Puma. Wizkid responded:
“U idiot! I turned down Puma because they could no longer afford to pay me because I wanted more! Don’t need dat! Way bigger than every artiste you just mentioned! Not jealous ! love them all. With ur dirty ass shirt! Idiot!
“No! Puma is a Big brand! But the budget they had for Africa wasn’t for me! Was cool for your client tho!”
Wizkid’s statement suggests that Puma’s offer wasn’t substantial enough for him, leading them to opt for Davido instead.
