ZONE 2 POLICE CRACKDOWN ON ADULTERATED ALCOHOL PRODUCTION COMPLEX, ARREST COUPLE, SHUTS DOWN ILLEGAL FACILITY

The Zone 2 Police Command, Onikan Lagos, under the leadership of  Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Olatoye A. Durosinmi, has successfully apprehended a couple for production and distribution of various adulterated alcoholic beverages.

The crackdown occurred on April 4, 2024, according to the information disclosed in a statement released by SP Ayuba T. Umma, Zonal Police Public Relations Officer.

The statement revealed that the culprit were found when a team of Detectives from the Zone 2 Raider Section, led by CSP Ngozi Braide, conducted a raid on a residence in Muibi Olawumi Close, Off Ayetoto/Itẹle Road, Ado-Odo/Ota LGA, Ogun State.

Acting on intelligence, the officers discovered an illicit operation producing counterfeit wines, liquor, champagne, and other alcoholic drinks.

The raid yielded a significant amount of incriminating evidence, including:

* Unlabeled and branded bottles of suspected adulterated alcoholic drinks

* Various containers filled with mixtures suspected to be ingredients for the adulterated beverages

* Equipment used in the production process, such as pumping machines, funnels, and sealing machines

Other items include brand label of Del-Mud, Del-Mud Royal, Smooth Brandy Wine Drinks in packs, a funnel containing a white handkerchief (used as filter) and corkscrew among various other production and branding items.

One Margret Austine ‘f’ was apprehended at the scene and she confessed to a six-year involvement in the illegal operation, alongside her husband, Austine Idemudia (a.k.a. “Baba Joshua”). Margret ‘f’ confirmed that their adulterated finished products are sold to buyers across Lagos and Ogun States.

The Zone 2 Command is actively investigating this case and will release further information to the general public as it becomes available.

Given this incident, Assistant Inspector-General Durosinmi urges the public to be vigilant when purchasing food and beverages. He expresses concern that the presence of adulterated products poses a serious risk to consumer health.

The Zone 2 Police Command remains committed to the safety and well-being of all residents within Lagos and Ogun States.

Police To Investigate The Mysterious Death Of Gihan Mbelu

The police are investigating the mysterious death of Gihan Mbelu, 42, the chairman of the Victoria Garden City (VGC) Estate resident association in Lagos.

According to reports, Mbelu was seen entering the estate and greeting friends and well-wishers on the day of his death.

He then drove to a popular restaurant, Swiss Restaurant, where he bought a soft drink and bottled water.

After returning to his car, he did not drive away, and his lifeless body was discovered at around 11 p.m. by a security guard who noticed his car was steaming and had been parked outside the restaurant for a long time.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department (SCIID) in Panti, Yaba, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

Kidnapped RCCG pastor regains freedom

Olugbenga Olawore, a pastor of the Redeem Christian Church of God, who was kidnapped at the Maya axis of Lanlate-Eruwa road in Oyo State regained his freedom, on Sunday.

NigeriaUpdates reported that Olawore and a few others were kidnapped, on Thursday, at the Maya axis of Lanlate-Eruwa road, all within the state boundary.

The state Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, made this known in a statement in Ibadan, the state capital, on Sunday.

He said, “Our people should be rest assured that our security apparatus in the state are fully alive and alert to their responsibilities.

“The State Government is monitoring and gauging the security situations within its boundary efficiently.

“Since the incident was reported, the government has been in close contact with the state Commissioner of Police, Hamzat Adebola, his team and our security teams and all parties have done the needful as usual to ensure the safety of lives and property of our citizens.” He stressed.

Oyelade reiterated that the government remained the most peaceful state in the country.

Fear of Naira Spraying Grips Nigerians, NiDOM Boss Shares Experience

Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, on Saturday, recounted her recent experience at a birthday party, highlighting the fear of spraying the naira.

In a video shared on her Instagram page, she said, “Just coming from a birthday party and guess what? Everybody was afraid to spray.

“But I guess we have to learn how to spray. Don’t throw money around, do it with class and dignity.

“Everybody was afraid o, including me.”

The apprehension surrounding the spraying of naira comes in the wake of recent legal actions taken against individuals accused of abusing the national currency.

NigeriaUpdates reports that the Federal High Court in Lagos convicted controversial cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky for abusing the naira.

Bobrisky was sentenced to six months imprisonment without the option of a fine.

Similarly, a businessman and socialite, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, was also arraigned on three counts bordering on abuse of naira by allegedly spraying and tampering with the nation’s currency at a social event.

The celebrity bar man pleaded not guilty to tampering and abusing the naira during his trial and was granted N10m bail with two sureties in like sum.
