Pearl of God Assembly located in water front area in Lagos has declared one of its members identified as, Jeremiah karo omobo wanted for practising same sex relationship with a reported friend cum ‘lover’ Ifeanyi Felix Michael Segun Benjamin who is also a Christian.
According to the reports by newsconnectonline, one Prophet Jeremiah Elijah from Pearl of God Assembly signed a press statement made available to them seeking the attention of the public to know the whereabout of one of its members who disappeared since October 2022 having declared wanted by his church for allegedly engaging in same sex relationship.
Elijah said Jerry has been disconnected from the word of God as a result of negative peer influence, so he needs to be sufficiently sensitised on morality using the Bible as a guide.
“Writing to declare him wanted is for his own good. The church has missed him.
“Same-Sex Marriage Prohibition Act criminalises all forms of same-sex unions and same-sex marriage throughout the country”. Elijah said.
Excerpt from the statement reads;
The Public unit department of The Pearl of God Assembly received a complain from a young lady in her mid-twenties called Veronica Osas on the 26th of November 2022.
Veronica in the letter described herself as an undergraduate and a girl friend to Jeremiah Karo Omobo who is one of the worker in my church. She alleged in the letter that Jerry as she fondly called him opted out from a 5 years relationship for reasons best known to him to date a new friend he met, Ifeanyi Segun Benjamin of same sex.
Veronica said since she had called the attention of his friends who knew about their relationship to his strange behaviour, he has since been on the loose and everyone doesn’t know his whereabout.
In her account she said;
“I did not know what I did before he stopped picking my calls since the middle of last year. I can’t recall if we had issues that are irreconcilable. I visited his usual hangout spots but couldn’t locate him.
“One of his friends told me to move on that he guessed he has found a new love. I said that can’t be true because the last time I checked, we had no arguments nor altercations that could amount to parting ways.
“I became so curious to know his whereabouts. Unfortunately for me, I haven’t been to his house before but we had only met at his friend’s place on few occasions.
“I recalled a member from his church was aware about our romance. I told him about the issue. Having briefed him, he advised me to write the Public affairs unit of their church to report him. I did as advised.
“He told me not to get perturbed over his sudden changes, that I am still a young lady, that i still have a long way to go. I was teary but urged me to wipe my tears saying what will be will be.
“Some months after approaching his church, a friend who lives in Ikorodu Halimah told me she saw Jerry and his supposed new gay love, at a fast food in Ijede, a community in Ikorodu. She had to trail them and eventually found where the duo stays. She said they were really acting like gay, that their actions at the fastfood signalled to her brain that he must be the Ifeanyi, his gay partner.
“On one faithful day, myself and the same girl who saw them planned and visited the apartment unnnounced. To my utter shock, we met them cuddling each other as love birds with another neutral guy in the picture. I couldn’t believe what I saw. I asked my friend to wake me up if I was dreaming.
“Jerry! my boyfriend rather than feeling remorse for abandoning me and not picking my calls for several months, asked how I got to locate him. I said that is not the issue, that why was he not picking my calls. He looked at me with disdain and said can’t you see, I have found a new love. He pointed at his male friend Ifeanyi has his new love. Myself and my friend looked at each other tongue tied..
When I gained my consciousness, I asked;
“Are you joking ? He said does it look like a joke. I bursted into tears and started pleading to forgive me if I had wronged him. He said you have done nothing to me, I am just no longer interested in ‘our’ relationship. I am now a gay and this is my partner”.
“Ifeanyi, his new love said no strong feelings that when we are ready to leave, we should shut the door. Both of them went Inside choreographed. Meanwhile the 3rd guy pacified us and gave us some money for transportation. Myself and my friend declined and left in shock.
“I couldn’t tell anyone what had happened to me, I was nursing this pain by myself and few friends I confided in. They emphatise with me, still I fell sick. It was on the sick bed that I had to inform family and friends about my ordeal.
According to Sheikh Junaid Faruk, the spiritual father of my friend whom she calls Ustadh, said if the allegation is indeed through, then he will be imprisoned for 14 years jail term. Halima informed me.
“In Southern Nigeria and under the secular criminal laws of northern Nigeria, the maximum punishment for same-sex sexual activity is 14 years’ imprisonment. Homosexuality is illegal in Nigeria and punishable by up to 14 years of prison in the conventional court system”. Veronica gave account.
In stalling him from risking jail term with his new lifestyle, my Church in collaboration with Sheikh Junaid Faruk, a Muslim group leader declared him wanted so he can be sensitised in this press statement.
At the time of filing this report, the whereabout of Jeremiah Karo Omobo is unknown ditto his gay partner Ifeanyi. Some people are of the opinion that Jerry had left the country over threats to his life for being a gay since there is no legal protection for LGBT rights in Nigeria
