The Ondo State Security Network, known as Amotekun Corps, has successfully rescued five travellers who were abducted last week along the Ifon-Ipele-Owo highway.

In a significant breakthrough, Amotekun operatives also arrested 14 suspects, including individuals involved in kidnapping and three herdsmen accused of gang-raping 75-year-old grandmother at Ifira Akoko while she was returning from her farm.

Speaking in Akure while parading the suspects, the State Commander of Ondo Amotekun Corps, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, confirmed the arrests and assured residents of the government’s commitment to tackling insecurity.

“Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and security operatives in the state are working round the clock to address the influx of bandits, which has led to an increase in kidnapping cases in Ondo State lately,” Adeleye stated.

Regarding the students and farmers abducted near Akure Airport last weekend, the Amotekun Commander noted that security agencies were actively trailing the kidnappers to ensure the victims’ safe return.

Two of the rescued victims, while narrating their ordeal, revealed they survived solely on water for five days while in captivity.
