Lagos Government Ought To Have Reviewed Public Procurement Document Before Making It Public – Funso Doherty

Funsho Doherty, the Governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has suggested that the Lagos state government should have appropriately reviewed the Public Procurement Document before making it available to the public.

Doherty had over the weekend highlighted grey areas in the state’s public procurement document made available on its official website.

But in response to questions about the state’s procurement procedure, State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu refuted claims that he paid N200 million to attorneys who defended his election in court using public coffers.

The assertion that the Office of the Deputy Governor spent N2 billion on rechargeable fans, lights, refrigerators, and other items was also deemed false by the Governor.

However, speaking on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily on Wednesday, Doherty commended the Lagos state government for swiftly addressing issues raised after their attention was drawn to items with outrageous budgets on the document.

“So it is then important that the report that you put out should have integrity, people must be able to rely on the figures, you would expect that there would be a review process of the information before it appears in the public domain, so even if there were going to be these kind of errors normal operations should suggest that a review process should bring out errors like this,” he said.

– Directs security agencies to arrest perpetrators

The attention of Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has been drawn to reports of alleged attacks on some persons and destruction of campaign materials in the wake of the visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the State on Wednesday.

This was disclosed in a statement released by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan on Thursday.

According to the statement, the Governor says his administration will not tolerate any form of violence that is capable of threatening the peace and tranquility of the State.

As the Governor has said repeatedly, any political campaign that disturbs the peace in the State is unacceptable and must be met with the decisive actions of law enforcement agencies.

It is pertinent to make it clear that nobody associated with the Governor or the government of Ondo State was involved in any of the reported activities ascribed to “political thugs” during the President’s visit to Owo and Akure.

The Governor has therefore asked law enforcement agencies in the State to arrest and prosecute anyone found to be engaged in such violent activities.

The Governor urges politicians and their followers to ensure that their campings are issue based, devoid of blackmail, spreading falsehood, inciting the public and intimidating opponents.

Wigwe Family Releases Burial Plan, City Of David Missing.

The City of David Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Lagos will not play any visible role in the funeral rites of the late group chief executive officer  of Access Holdings Plc, Herbert Wigwe, who died  on board a chopper in US about three weeks ago.

According to Goldmyne report, Wigwe, who was an active member of the influential City of David Parish of RCCG, died alongside his wife, first son, a friend and former chairman of NGX, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, and crew members, in the air accident.

About two weeks after his death, a pre-planned lavish Diamond Jubilee birthday of the wife of the Parish Pastor, Dr Siju Iluyomade, was held that left tongues wagging.

Some netizens from far and near complained about the alleged insensitivity of the Pastor’s family at a time they opined the church should be mourning the Wigwes, being prominent members of the church while alive. But, others thought otherwise, absolving the Iluyomades of any offence, saying life must go on.

However, in the programme of events released by the Wigwe family on Wednesday, the City of David Parish of RCCG was conspicuously missing.

Not a few were surprised with the turn of events because they believed the church should feature as one of the venues for the funeral rites.
