NSCDC, National Productivity Centre Partner to Boost Workplace Efficiency in Anambra
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Anambra State has announced plans to partner with the National Productivity Centre (NPC) to improve workplace efficiency and service delivery.
The collaboration aims to equip officers with modern productivity skills and strengthen institutional performance across the state.
Why it matters
Officials say the move reflects a growing recognition that security agencies must adopt productivity-driven approaches to meet evolving public service demands.
Improved efficiency, they argue, could enhance not only internal operations but also public safety outcomes.
Partnership focus: Training and digital transformation
The State Commandant of NSCDC in Anambra, Maku Olatunde, said the command is ready to work with the NPC to deliver targeted training and capacity-building programmes.
“We consider ourselves a productivity-driven agency, especially in the digital space. Your expertise in training, value reorientation, and capacity building will significantly complement our efforts in ensuring a safer and more productive Anambra for all,” he said.
He added that the command is particularly interested in initiatives that support digital transformation in public service.
“We are open to collaborations, particularly in digital transformation. We can work together on initiatives that advance productivity and the digitalization of public service.”
NPC outlines its mandate
Earlier, the NPC’s Anambra State Coordinator, Stella Ugwu, explained that the centre focuses on promoting productivity awareness across both public and private sectors.
“Productivity is a multidisciplinary concept. We assess organizational operations to ensure they meet international standards while providing training and development support,” she said.
She added that the centre provides consultancy, skills development, and capacity training to improve efficiency and service delivery.
Strengthening security through productivity
Mrs Ugwu noted that the visit was aimed at securing collaboration with the NSCDC for sensitisation and training programmes for officers.
She also commended the command’s efforts in maintaining security and creating an environment where productivity can thrive.
Industry and public sector perspective
Experts say partnerships like this reflect a broader shift in Nigeria’s public sector towards performance-driven governance.
Analysts argue that improving workforce productivity within security agencies could lead to faster response times, better coordination, and increased public trust.
What’s next
Both organisations are expected to roll out joint training programmes, including productivity sensitisation workshops and capacity-building sessions for NSCDC personnel.
Further collaboration may also explore digital tools to improve operational efficiency.

Ogun CP Bode Ojajuni Visits OOU Ibogun to Boost Campus Security Collaboration
The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Bode Ojajuni, has visited the Ibogun Campus of Olabisi Onabanjo University to engage directly with students and host community members on security issues.
The visit, which also had the Vice Chancellor in attendance, is part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between law enforcement and the university community.
Why it matters
Campus security remains a growing concern across Nigerian universities, with students often calling for improved safety measures and stronger police presence.
Mr Ojajuni’s visit signals a shift towards proactive engagement, where police authorities interact directly with students and residents to address concerns before they escalate.
Such collaborations are seen as critical in building trust and ensuring timely reporting of crimes or suspicious activities.
Focus on police-community collaboration
The Ogun State Police Command says the engagement is aimed at fostering mutual understanding and improving intelligence sharing between the police and the public.
While details of the discussions were not immediately disclosed, similar engagements in the past have focused on crime prevention, student safety, and conflict resolution within host communities.
Security experts say face-to-face interactions like this can help reduce tensions and improve cooperation.
Role of university leadership
The presence of the Vice Chancellor underscores the institution’s commitment to student welfare and safety.
University authorities are increasingly working with security agencies to address issues such as cultism, theft, and off-campus violence.
Analysts note that joint efforts between school management and law enforcement can lead to more coordinated and sustainable security strategies.
What’s next
Further engagements and follow-up actions are expected after the visit, including possible security reviews and awareness campaigns within the campus community.
Observers say sustained dialogue not one-off visits will determine the long-term success of such initiatives.
Industry & Public Reactions
Students and residents have welcomed the move, describing it as a positive step towards safer learning environments.
Some, however, stress the need for visible action and consistent communication beyond official visits.

Lagos Honours IGP Disu, Signals Push for Professional Policing and Public Trust
Olatunji Rilwan Disu, Nigeria’s Inspector-General of Police (IGP), has been honoured at a state banquet in Lagos, days after his appointment to lead the country’s police force.
The event, hosted by Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the Lagos State House in Marina, brought together government officials, security leaders, and members of the public.
It marked both a celebration of Mr Disu’s career and a symbolic “homecoming” to the state where he built much of his policing reputation.
‘A product of Lagos’ — Governor
Governor Sanwo-Olu described the police chief as a leader shaped by Lagos and its institutions, highlighting his record in law enforcement.
“The IGP is a product of Lagos, shaped by its communities and institutions, and defined by a strong commitment to service.”
He pointed to Mr Disu’s time as head of the Rapid Response Squad as a period marked by discipline and operational efficiency.
IGP Disu pledges reforms and public trust
In his remarks, Mr Disu thanked the Lagos State Government and residents for what he called a warm reception.
“This is a personal homecoming,” he said, reflecting on his years of service in the state.
He reaffirmed his commitment to rebuilding trust in policing across Nigeria, with a focus on professionalism and community engagement.
The police chief also stressed the need for stronger collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force, state governments, and non-state actors.
Why it matters
Security remains a major concern for many Nigerians, with public confidence in law enforcement often under scrutiny.
Mr Disu’s appointment and the strong endorsement from Lagos signals an effort to reset relations between the police and citizens.
His emphasis on partnerships with institutions like the Lagos State Security Trust Fund suggests a broader, multi-stakeholder approach to tackling crime.
Industry and public perspectives
Security analysts say collaboration between police and local stakeholders is critical to improving intelligence gathering and response times.
Civil society groups have also repeatedly called for reforms focused on accountability, transparency, and respect for human rights.
For residents and businesses, improved policing could mean safer communities and a more stable environment for economic activity.
What’s next
The Inspector-General is expected to outline policy priorities in the coming weeks, including operational reforms and nationwide security strategies.
Observers will be watching closely to see how his promises on professionalism and public trust translate into action.

Ogun Police Debunk Viral Bandit Video, Launch New Security Facility in Ikenne
The Ogun State Police Command has rejected a viral video circulating on social media that allegedly shows armed men operating in a forest in the state.
Police say the footage is “false, misleading, and recycled”, warning that it could trigger unnecessary panic among residents.
According to the command, preliminary investigations show the video was not recorded in Nigeria but in Kenya during an operation involving cattle rustlers.
The footage, officials added, was first uploaded online in 2022 and has since been reshared with a misleading narrative about Ogun State.
“The video is false, misleading, and does not originate from Ogun State or any part of Nigeria,” the police said in a statement.
Why it matters
Security concerns remain a major issue across parts of Nigeria, and viral misinformation can quickly escalate fear.
Authorities warn that sharing unverified content can undermine public trust and disrupt peace, especially in regions already sensitive to security threats.
Police warn against spreading misinformation
The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Bode Ojajuni, condemned the spread of the video, saying it could erode confidence in security agencies.
“There is no intelligence or operational report to support the claim of any such criminal presence within forests or any part of Ogun State,” he said.
He urged residents to rely only on official channels for updates and avoid sharing unverified information.
Police also warned that spreading false or inciting content would not be tolerated.
New security facility launched in Ikenne
In a separate development, the police command announced the commissioning of a temporary Ikenne Area Command facility and the groundbreaking for a permanent structure.
The project is aimed at strengthening security operations in the area.
The Inspector-General of Police was represented at the event, where officials highlighted the importance of collaboration between communities and security agencies.
“This is a clear demonstration of community-driven support for effective policing,” Mr Ojajuni said.
Community partnership and digital security push
Police praised the Ikenne Security Coordinating Centre for adopting digital tools to improve intelligence sharing and emergency response.
The Ikenne Development Association was also commended for supporting the project.
Experts say such partnerships are increasingly important in tackling security challenges at the grassroots level.
What’s next
The Ogun State Police say they will continue intelligence-led policing and strategic deployments across the state.
Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activities through official emergency lines and remain vigilant.
