ADC Politician Florence Akinrinde Speaks on Brother’s Divorce from Biola Adebayo

Published

on

Politician and businesswoman Florence Funlola Akinrinde has publicly addressed the recent divorce between her younger brother, Oluseyi Akinrinde, and Nollywood actress Biola Adebayo, describing her brother as a calm and forgiving man who desired peace despite the challenges in his marriage.

Akinrinde, who was the African Democratic Congress (ADC) House of Representatives candidate for Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency of Ogun State during the 2023 elections, shared a lengthy post on Instagram on her brother’s birthday.

In her emotional message, she revealed that her brother remained composed despite the public attention surrounding the divorce, and that efforts were initially made to have the post announcing the separation taken down.

“OluwaSeyi Oriyomi mi, omo Akin,

Even though all the buzzing on my phone all yesterday and through midnight to early hours of today did not allow me to send you a birthday wish. Amidst all, I was overwhelmed by the show of love and concern from family and friends all over the world.

Everyone wants to know if you are fine, and of course, you are.☺️

My dear brother, just like we were taught from our early years to be strong and resilient, focused and never weary no matter what.

OluwaSeyi, you have always been a sweet guy. You love unconditionally. Somehow your open heart, love, and cravings to keep your home were misjudged for being too demanding.”

She continued by revealing that despite being hurt, her brother still sought peace.

“Most of the time when we talk I feel the desire in your voice even till this morning. Iya, like you fondly call me, let me talk to her first to pull down the post. Hmm, you still want peace despite being bastardised and crucified wrongly.

You were never quick to take revenge, how pure can your heart be my dear. Please accept my sincere apology for being too harsh on you.

You were right anyways, you saw it coming early enough.

You are not on this alone.

We love you deeply.

And to all that showed concern, God bless you all.

Many happy returns, my darling brother.

Your light shall never be dimmed at noon time, Oriyomi.”

Biola Adebayo and Oluseyi Akinrinde got married on April 7, 2021, just six months after they met. The couple had been open about their struggles with fertility, including failed IVF procedures and surrogacy setbacks. They eventually welcomed their son via surrogacy in April 2023.

While Biola Adebayo has made public statements about their separation, Florence’s post marks the first time someone close to Oluseyi Akinrinde has spoken publicly, painting a picture of a man who chose patience and kindness in the face of emotional adversity.

NCAA Blacklists K1 De Ultimate for Six Months Over Alleged Airport Misconduct

Published

on

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has officially blacklisted Fuji music legend Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate or Kwam 1, from flying within its regulatory space for the next six months.

The decision was announced on Thursday during a press briefing by Michael Achimugu, NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, held at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja.

“The sanction follows the musician’s alleged misconduct at the domestic terminal of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja,” Achimugu said.

“Further details of the incident will be made available in due course.”

Although the full specifics of the event remain unclear, the action appears connected to the earlier controversy involving K1 and ValueJet on August 5, 2025, when reports emerged that the Fuji icon had engaged in a heated exchange with airport and airline personnel while boarding a flight to Lagos.

Background: ValueJet Incident and K1’s Denial

Earlier this week, K1’s media aide, Kunle Rasheed, released a strongly worded statement denying any wrongdoing, calling the viral reports “exaggerated and misleading.”

“At no point did K1 act in a manner that endangered lives or breached safety regulations,” Rasheed said in the statement dated August 6.

“The substance in question — which was wrongly sensationalized — was nothing more than plain drinking water, given to him at the airport lounge while he waited to board the aircraft.”

He added that K1 was the only person involved alongside his personal assistant and that senior airline officials had even offered a private jet to fly him to Lagos — which he reportedly declined.

“Despite persistent persuasion from the airline’s top executives, K1 graciously declined the offer,” Rasheed noted.

“If there had been anything inappropriate in his conduct, the Head of Airport Security and senior officials from FAAN and NCAA would not have reached out personally to appeal and apologise.”

Conflicting Narratives Deepen Mystery

While K1’s camp maintains he was a victim of miscommunication and undue pressure, the NCAA’s move to blacklist him — alongside the revelation that the pilot involved has had her license suspended — raises new questions.

Some aviation observers argue that the NCAA’s six-month sanction suggests internal investigations uncovered violations serious enough to warrant disciplinary action.

However, critics have also questioned the timing and lack of detailed public findings.

“We urge the media and the public to avoid sensationalism and allow the truth — not assumptions — to guide their judgment,” Rasheed had warned earlier.

Public Reactions and Industry Implications

The incident has sparked intense debate online about celebrity behaviour, aviation safety, and how such cases should be handled by airlines and regulatory bodies.

Some Nigerians have sided with K1, insisting the entire episode was blown out of proportion, while others say the NCAA’s involvement shows that a line was crossed.

What’s Next?

With the NCAA confirming that more information will be made public “in due course,” many await further clarity on what truly transpired at the Abuja airport terminal. For now, K1 De Ultimate remains grounded by official order, and his legal or public response to the blacklist remains to be seen.

Lawyer Petitions NBC, Demands BBNaija Ban Over ‘Obscene and Indecent Content’

Published

on

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) is under pressure to take regulatory action against the popular reality show Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) following a formal petition by human rights lawyer and activist Maduabuchi Idam, who has accused the programme of promoting “obscene, indecent, and profane” content.

In the petition, dated August 5, and titled “Urgent need to ban or regulate the content of the television programme described as ‘Big Brother Naija’ for obscene, indecent, and profane content, pursuant to the NBC Act 1999”, Idam demanded that the commission either bans the show outright or enforces stringent regulations within 30 days. Failure to comply, he warned, will result in legal action.

“The show is not only aired on national TV but its profane content is proudly shared on the verified social media handles of the host company, in total disregard for public morality,” Maduabuchi Idam, Activist Lawyer

‘Double Standards’ Alleged Against NBC

Idam questioned NBC’s inconsistency in enforcement, pointing out that the commission had previously banned or sanctioned music videos by popular Nigerian artists such as Olamide, Phyno, and Wizkid on similar moral grounds.

He argued that it was hypocritical for the NBC to remain silent while BBNaija, currently in its 10th season, continues to broadcast scenes he described as “real-time explicit and pornographic” on both television and social media platforms.

While the reality show is rated 18+, Idam contended that the rating was inadequate, as the programme is still widely accessible to underage viewers, especially through platforms like Instagram and TikTok where explicit clips are circulated.

No Educational or Artistic Value, Lawyer Says

The lawyer dismissed the argument that BBNaija has any entertainment or cultural value, asserting that the programme “contributes nothing of educational, artistic, scientific, or literary relevance” to society.

“The NBC must act now to prevent further erosion of our societal values,” Maduabuchi Idam

He warned that Nigeria, already grappling with insecurity, corruption, and social vices, cannot afford the additional damage caused by what he described as the moral rot promoted by BBNaija.

Call for Tighter Controls and Digital Restrictions

Idam further called on the NBC to restrict BBNaija’s airing to highly regulated adult channels and to prohibit the show’s producers from sharing explicit scenes online.

“The NBC is empowered by the NBC Act to protect the moral fabric of our society. If it could sanction music videos, it can certainly regulate BBNaija,” Idam stated

As of the time of this report, the NBC has not issued any public response to the petition.

Public Reactions Mixed

The petition has sparked widespread debate across Nigerian social media, with some citizens supporting the call for tighter regulation, while others defended BBNaija as a platform for self-expression, youth empowerment, and entertainment.

Context and Legal Background

The NBC Act of 1999 empowers the commission to regulate and sanction media content deemed unfit for public consumption. However, critics argue that enforcement has often been selective and politically influenced.

The ongoing BBNaija season, produced by Multichoice Nigeria, continues to attract millions of viewers across Africa. The show has been a recurring subject of public morality debates in Nigeria since its inception in 2006.
