Dr. Bosun Tijani, Nigeria’s Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, on June 4, 2025, officially commissioned the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC)’s Digital Industrial Park (DIP) in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The high-profile event drew dignitaries from government, traditional institutions, and the ICT sector. Among them were Prince Dapo Abiodun, Executive Governor of Ogun State; Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Deputy Governor; Dr. Aminu Maida, Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC; Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salihu, Chairman, Senate Committee on ICT; Hon. Stanley Adedeji Olajide, Chairman, House Committee on Information and Technology; HRM Oba Micheal Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland; and Mr. Olatokunbo Joseph Talabi, Secretary to the State Government.

The commissioning of the Digital Industrial Park marks a major milestone in Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda.

“The establishment of a Digital Industrial Park in Ogun State is a testament to NCC’s commitment to fostering digital innovation and facilitating economic development through the nurturing of homegrown technological solutions,” the NCC stated.

The Park is designed to bridge the gap between academia and industry, supporting educational initiatives in STEM and digital technology fields. It will also serve as a launchpad for digital entrepreneurship and tech-based startups.

“With a focus on skills training and development, the NCC aims to equip Nigerian youths with the knowledge and competencies necessary to thrive in a technology-driven world and thereby empower them to become leaders, innovators, and change-makers,” the Commission added.

The project aligns with the Federal Government’s Nigeria Digital Economy Policy and Strategy, which emphasizes capacity building, innovation hubs, and job creation in the ICT sector.

Speaking at a recent event tagged Voices of Ndi Anambra, some beneficiaries shared their experiences and praised the programme for its life-changing impact.

Dibor Mary-Ann, a participant trained in digital marketing and SEO, shared how the programme exceeded her expectations.

“Where would I have gotten that sum of money? That was a lot for an average Nigerian student. After the training, I was employed by the Ministry of Industries. That was my dream job, and the governor allowed me not to stress myself after leaving school to search for a job,” she said.

“I started the training in 2023 and was taught the fundamentals of Digital Marketing and SEO, and how to make money with it. It was a wonderful experience.”

Emmanuel Ekwuya, a university undergraduate, said the programme opened his mind to global tech possibilities.

“Before, I was running an eight-week scheme as a tech person, and I was being taught business structure and how to start something the whole world can benefit from.”

“I commend Governor Soludo for putting the facilities in place for the digital training. What he is doing is great; he is shaping us and the Anambra tech ecosystem. The knowledge has helped a lot, as it is very difficult to operate in a business environment without tech skills,” Ekwuya affirmed.

“I thank the governor for getting every touch point of the training settled. I appreciate Mr. Governor for the empowerment initiative; what he is doing is very good.”

Other participants, including Uchechukwu Ebonam and Ofona Akansi, echoed similar sentiments, applauding the SID initiative for transforming their technical abilities and expanding opportunities for Anambra youths.

According to the Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor,

“Governor Soludo’s adoption of the digital transformation of Anambra youth is in line with his human capital development strategy, which is already yielding positive results.”
