In a sweeping anti-drug operation across Nigeria, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted major consignments of narcotics cleverly concealed in unusual objects including vehicle side mirrors, footwear, and lipsticks. The busts, which spanned multiple states and airports, led to the arrest of over a dozen suspects and the recovery of large quantities of illicit drugs.
The most audacious concealment came through the export shed of Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos, where NDLEA operatives intercepted 71 vehicle side mirrors filled with cocaine and tramadol 225mg en route to Libreville, Gabon via Air Côte d’Ivoire.

According to NDLEA, the first consignment seized on Saturday, July 19, 2025, contained 57,420 pills of tramadol 225mg and 57 pellets of cocaine weighing 1.60kg. The bust led to the arrest of a cargo handler, Ihekweme Osinachi Benedict. Further investigations uncovered another suspect, Uzochukwu Godspower Chukwurah, who was arrested the next day.
By Monday, July 21, NDLEA operatives recovered 11 more parcels of cocaine (1kg) from four additional side mirrors at Uzochukwu’s residence, bringing the total cocaine seized to 2.6kg in 68 parcels.
Businesswoman Caught Concealing Cocaine in Lipsticks
In another sting operation, NDLEA operatives arrested Mrs. Nwafor Roseann Nneka, a businesswoman at the Trade Fair Complex, Ojo, Lagos, over cocaine and phenacetine concealed in ladies’ lipsticks destined for Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.

The drugs—100 grams of cocaine and 300 grams of phenacetine, a common cutting agent—were initially detected at the MMIA export shed on July 10, 2025. Two cargo agents were arrested before Nneka, who confessed that she purchased the lipsticks, while her husband, Remigus Nwafor—currently on the run—carried out the drug concealment.
Dispatch Riders Turned Drug Couriers in Abuja
In the Federal Capital Territory, NDLEA arrested three dispatch riders suspected of distributing narcotics around Gwarimpa, Jahi, and Galadimawa. The suspects—Sabo Sule (24), Samuel Nnamdi (28), and Idris Jibrin (28)—were caught with 149.8 grams of “Canadian Loud,” a potent strain of cannabis, during stop-and-search operations on July 30.
Two others—Aliyu Abubakar (25) and Adekunle Agbabiaka (30)—were arrested with 91.1kg of skunk on the Abaji-Gwagwalada expressway on August 2.
