The Ondo State Government has firmly denied reports alleging structural damage at the ongoing construction site of its new Judiciary Complex in Akure.
During an inspection of the project on Tuesday, 12 August 2025, the Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Engr. Abiola Olawoye, said the claims circulating about a partial collapse were “entirely false.”
“We have moved round all the 10 buildings in this project, including the ceremonial court, modular courts A to G, the utility building, and the registry building. There is no structural failure. The workers are doing perfect work,” Olawoye stated.
He explained that detailed soil investigations, reinforcement checks, and compliance systems were carried out before construction began. The commissioner noted that the complex was already 45–50% complete, with ongoing quality tests—including cube, integrity, and balsamatic strength assessments—showing no defects.
“By God’s grace, very soon this project will come to an end. The contractor, in collaboration with consultants and the ministry, is ensuring that every stage meets quality standards,” he added.
The Judiciary Complex, which comprises 10 major structures, was launched by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa in December 2024 and is expected to significantly enhance judicial operations upon completion.
Governor Aiyedatiwa Distributes Official Vehicles to Permanent Secretaries
In a separate event on Monday, 11 August 2025, Governor Aiyedatiwa presented brand new vehicles to 14 Permanent Secretaries in the Ondo State public service, including four who have recently retired.
At the ceremony in Alagbaka, Akure, the governor described the gesture as “symbolic,” aimed at improving efficiency and productivity in the civil service.
“I think about 14 of you, the first batch of my permanent secretaries, and I know four of you have retired, but because I appointed them, we will not deprive them of that entitlement,” Aiyedatiwa said.

“This is just symbolic to support you, to help you to be more productive, move around, do your job with ease, and to be more efficient.”
Ondo State Head of Service, Mr. Bayo Philip, praised the governor’s commitment to a functional and motivated workforce, while Mrs. Foluke Tunde-Daramola, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, said the gesture reflected the governor’s “OUR EASE” agenda.
Political Realignment as Opposition Leaders Join APC
Also on Monday, Governor Aiyedatiwa formally welcomed Hon. Dayo Awude, the Labour Party’s deputy governorship candidate in the last election, along with his supporters and leaders from other parties, into the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defectors, under the Sunshine Grassroots Network, included members from the PDP, SDP, and ADC. Speaking at the Akure City Hall, the governor said their decision to join the APC was “a wise move” ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“In Ondo State, there is no room for coalition, it is one APC. People join political parties for different reasons, but the interest of the party must always supersede every other interest, and for us in the APC, that interest is to retain power,” Aiyedatiwa declared.
Awude said his defection was driven by the progressive ideals of the APC and the governor’s leadership style.
“I have joined the APC to add value, and I assure Mr. Governor that he will see it… I am here for progress to support President Bola Tinubu and the administration of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa,” he said.

Celebration of new Ondo APC membership
APC State Chairman Engr. Ade Adetimehin urged the new members to focus on grassroots mobilisation, noting that “any politician who cannot deliver his unit and ward is not a politician.”
The event was attended by senior state officials, APC leaders, and members of the State Executive Council.
