Niger Delta Celebrates Hon. Osima Ginah’s 60th Birthday with Book Launch, Symposium, and Community Empowerment

Port Harcourt witnessed a remarkable gathering of prominent political leaders, business executives, traditional rulers, and legal luminaries on January 5, 2025, as Hon. Osima Ginah Esq, FCIM (JP), celebrated his 60th birthday in grand style. The event, held at the prestigious L.A Kings Event Center, served as the grand finale of a week-long celebration that included a book launch and symposium honoring his life and legacy.

The event was chaired by Chief O.C.J. Okocha, SAN, DSSRS, a former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, FCT Minister and former Governor of Rivers State, was represented by Barr. Boma Iyaye, Director of Finance at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

Other dignitaries included Chief Ferdinand Anabraba, Sen. Magnus Abe, Mr. Zacheaus Adango, and several members of the National Assembly. Former Deputy Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Dumle Moal, and other notable personalities also graced the occasion.

Book Launch: A Tribute to a Life of Impact

The centerpiece of the celebration was the launch of The Audacity & Inscrutability of Osima Ginah Esq, FCIM JP, authored by Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze. The book was described by the reviewer, Prof. Kaniye Ebeku, as a comprehensive chronicle of Osima Ginah’s life, likening its inspirational tone to Barack Obama’s The Audacity of Hope.

Chairman of the occasion, Chief Okocha, praised Ginah’s determination and contributions during his tenure as Rivers State Commissioner for Urban Development. The FCT Minister, through his representative, described Osima as a “composite gentleman and dependable ally.”

Thanksgiving Service and Community Empowerment

The festivities began with a thanksgiving service at St. Paul’s African Church Cathedral, where Osima Ginah expressed gratitude to God for his life and achievements.

The week-long celebrations also featured a community-wide crusade, a novelty football competition among the six central group communities, and the empowerment of 40 petty traders with ₦50,000 each. These initiatives underscored Osima’s commitment to community development and his dedication to improving the lives of the Niger Delta people.

In his speech, Osima Ginah expressed profound appreciation to all who supported and celebrated with him.

He said:

“On behalf of my family, friends, and associates, I want to express my heartfelt appreciation to each and every one of you who took out time to join me for the thanksgiving service of my 60th birthday and book unveiling. I want to specifically thank His Excellency, Chief Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, GSSRS; Chief O.C.J. Okocha (SAN); Chief Ferdinand Alabraba; Chief Boma Iyaye; Prof. Kaniye Ebeku; and others. Your kindness, generosity, and support mean everything to me.”

Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, APC chieftain and respected media strategist, has commemorated the second anniversary of his daughter’s wedding with an emotional tribute, expressing deep gratitude to prominent leaders including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Governor Dave Umahi for their immense support during the 2023 ceremony.

The wedding of Lady Monica Ada Chidinma Chukwuemeka Eze to Hon. Elechi Oko Elechi took place on 6 May 2023 at the Chapel of Mercy, a Christian ministry founded by the bride’s mother, Evang. Ada Chioma Henrietta Eze, in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

The traditional and white wedding drew dignitaries from across Nigeria’s political, religious, and academic circles.

“May 6th, 2023 will remain memorable in the hearts of the Ezes,” Chief Eze stated. “We celebrated our daughter in grand style in a peaceful town that has given Nigeria iconic leaders.”

Uburu is home to political stalwarts like Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, Dr. Dave Umahi, and Chief Austin Umahi, making it a fitting venue for such an esteemed event.

Chief Eze extended his deepest appreciation to Senator Dave Umahi, who, through Chief Emmanuel Obasi, offered the Osborn La Palm Royal Resort Ltd. for the wedding reception and ensured the road leading to Eze’s compound was tarred and lit.

“I remain indebted to former Gov. Umahi for ensuring that the road leading to my compound was duly tarred with street lighting just for the purpose of the wedding,” Eze said.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, represented by Chief Nelly Mokwenye, co-chaired the event with Rev. Dr. Chukwuma Joseph Chukwu. Eze expressed heartfelt appreciation:

“I was positively shocked by the level of love showered on me by Atiku Abubakar. He is indeed a unifier by words and action.”

The emotional highlight of the anniversary came from Eze’s youngest daughter, Grace C. Chukwuemeka-Eze, who wrote:

Chief Olusegun Obasanjo Celebrated at 88 with a Global Breakfast Prayer Session

Aare Adetola Emmanuelking, the Otun-Asiwaju Onigbagbo of Remoland, joined dignitaries, Christian leaders, and well-wishers in celebrating Chief Olusegun Obasanjo at 88 with a spiritually enriching Global Breakfast Prayer session.

The event, held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, was the 61st edition of the Prayer Breakfast, drawing participation from 29 countries in honor of Nigeria’s former President and elder statesman.

The session was facilitated by Bishop T. Akin-Akinsanya, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), South-West Zone, and moderated by Rev. Engr. A. Ojeshina.

Ministers from across the globe participated, reflecting Obasanjo’s vast influence and leadership.

The gathering featured intercessory prayers, scriptural reflections, and worship led by respected clerics and the Gatekeepers Worship Team.

International ministers shared goodwill messages, recognizing Obasanjo’s impact on diplomacy, African development, and leadership. Among them were Ven. O. Ogunremi (Kenya), Pastor M. Nwanegbo (Belgium), Bishop F. Wale Oke, Bishop E. Adekunle, Rev. Mother E. Ajayi, Apostle M. Oluwajoba (USA), Dr. Juliet Hammond (UK), and Bishop David Bakare.

Aare Adetola Emmanuelking, in his tribute, reflected on his personal connection with Obasanjo, recalling how a book of prayers written by the former President became his source of strength during captivity in the 1990s.

He drew inspiration from the biblical story of Jonah, describing Obasanjo’s life as one of resilience and divine guidance.

“Baba’s resilience, strength, commitment to service continue to inspire us all. Even at 88, he remains more energetic than many younger than him.

His life teaches us that longevity is sustained by purpose, continuously working, planning, and striving for a better tomorrow. Indeed, when one has a vision for the future, life itself is preserved by divine grace,” Aare Adetola Emmanuelking stated.

Emphasizing Obasanjo’s remarkable legacy, Aare Emmanuelking urged him to release 32 more editions of his impactful spiritual compendium of prayers, affirming the declaration that he is destined to live up to 120 years.

He praised Obasanjo for his unmatched contributions to Nigeria and global diplomacy, from being the military Head of State who transitioned power to a civilian government in 1979 to serving as Nigeria’s civilian President from 1999 to 2007.

“At 88, Baba continues to make waves, inspiring the nation and serving as a voice for Africa. As a true son of the soil, may God continue to bless him with wisdom, strength, and good health. May he live long to witness the continued growth and prosperity of Nigeria and Africa. To God be all the glory for Baba’s life. May he remain a guiding light for generations to come,” he concluded.

The Global Breakfast Prayer session concluded with a special toast and reaffirmed prayers for Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s continued health, wisdom, and guidance as a statesman and global leader.
