Idris Okuneye, Nigerian Controversial cross-dresser  popularly known as Bobrisky, has knocked women who are criticising him for identifying with the female gender.

NigeriaUpdates recalls that social media was agog after the organisers of the Ajakaju movie premier announced Bobrisky as the winner of the female best-dressed category.

However, reacting to the outrage, the movie producer Eniola Ajao explained that the organisers decided to give the best-dressed female category award to spark controversy as a publicity strategy.

Responding to those women criticising him after he received the award, Bobrisky, in a now-viral live Instagram session, said that women have no choice but to accept him as part of them.

He said, “Some people are saying Bobrisky, are you a woman, are you a this, are you a that? I’m not here to come and argue anything. Respect people how they want to be addressed, even without just looking at my body, without just opening my body to see anything. Number one, you need to respect people how they want to be addressed.

“I can see a lot of women coming out, you know, saying different things. I’ll not insult anybody. I love women. Women are the most powerful gender in the world, so I’m not coming here to say, oh, they are this, they are that; see you guys, ehhhn, you have no choice. You have to accept me as part of the sisterhood. Do you hear me? You guys have no choice. I’m part of the sisterhood already, so deal with it.”

MC Oluomo Appeals to President Tinubu for Mercy in K1 Airport Ban Case

Published

The National Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya popularly known as MC Oluomo has made a public appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to show mercy to Fuji music icon, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K1), over a recent ban on his flights.

In a heartfelt statement, MC Oluomo compared K1’s situation to that of a “prodigal son” who has admitted his mistakes, expressed regret, and pledged to make amends.

“I, Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, President of the NURTW, humbly and fervently appeal to you to exercise mercy and forgiveness towards Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K1). Like a prodigal son, K1 has acknowledged his mistakes, is sincerely apologetic, and is willing to make amends,” MC Oluomo wrote.

The appeal follows a ban imposed on K1 and pilot Oluranti Ogoyi by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) after an incident at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport’s local wing in Abuja.

MC Oluomo urged the Director-General of the NCAA, Capt. Chris Najomo, and the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Barrister Festus Keyamo (SAN), to “temper justice with mercy” and lift the sanctions.

“On behalf of K1, I extend unreserved and heartfelt apologies to the CEO of Value Jet, Mr. Kunle Soname, the staff, the pilot, and the general public. We acknowledge K1’s wrongdoing and deeply appreciate his 50-year contributions to Nigeria’s growth and the promotion of Yoruba culture worldwide,” he said.

Highlighting K1’s legacy as an ambassador of Yoruba music and culture, the NURTW chairman pleaded with the authorities to weigh the singer’s decades of service against the recent controversy.

“I plead with the authorities to accept K1’s apology and show mercy, considering his legacy and dedication to the nation. May wisdom guide your decisions, and may we not throw away the baby with the bathwater,” MC Oluomo stated.

The statement concluded with prayers for the President and the nation:

“God bless you. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

K1, also known as King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, has been a dominant figure in Fuji music for over five decades, shaping the genre’s growth and taking Yoruba culture to global stages.

Nigerian singer Oluwatosin Ajibade, better known as Mr Eazi, has married actress and fashion entrepreneur Temi Otedola, daughter of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, in a private wedding in Iceland.

The ceremony took place at Hallgrímskirkja Church in Reykjavík — one of Iceland’s most iconic landmarks — which was specially decorated with flowers and closed to the public for the occasion.

According to reports, Temi, the youngest of Otedola’s three daughters, exchanged vows with the Skin Tight crooner in the presence of a small circle of family and friends.

The guest list included high-profile figures such as Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, who was spotted alongside comedian Broda Shaggi in video clips shared on Instagram. Temi’s sister, Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, and their mother were also seen at the event.

Broda Shaggi posted short clips on his Instagram Story, capturing joyful moments with the groom and some of the distinguished guests in Reykjavík.

Mr Eazi and Temi Otedola first announced their engagement in April 2022, when Temi posted a 38-second video of the proposal on Instagram. In several interviews and social media posts since then, the couple hinted that they wanted a private and exclusive wedding celebration.

K1 De Ultimate Apologises for Abuja Airport Incident, Denies Alcohol Allegation in Flask

Published

on

Popular Fuji musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as K1 De Ultimate, has issued a heartfelt apology to the Nigerian public and aviation authorities following an incident at the local wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on August 5, 2025 — an event that has since drawn widespread attention and led to a six-month blacklist by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

In a public statement released on Friday, K1 described the incident involving him and ValueJet Airline as “unfortunate,” but clarified several circulating rumours — particularly those suggesting he was carrying alcohol.

“Unknown to many, I suffer from chronic dehydration, and my doctor strongly advised that I remain constantly hydrated. This is why I always carry a water flask with me,” K1 stated.

“Contrary to the negative narrative being circulated in some quarters, the flask I carried on that particular day contained only water — not alcohol, as wrongly alleged.”

What Really Happened? K1 Gives His Side

According to K1, he passed through two layers of security at the Abuja terminal with an empty flask, which was only filled with drinking water at the airport lounge before he approached the tarmac.

“This fact can be verified by the CCTV footage at the airport lounge,” he explained.

“More so, I hadn’t even boarded the plane, let alone being deboarded.”

This clarification contradicts earlier viral reports claiming the singer caused a disruption onboard the aircraft. His latest comments aim to set the record straight, especially in light of NCAA’s six-month flight sanction imposed just a day earlier.

K1 Tenders Unreserved Apology

Despite defending his actions, K1 took full responsibility for the public concern generated by the incident and extended an apology to all stakeholders involved — including the Presidency, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Ministry of Aviation, the NCAA, ValueJet, and his global fanbase.

“I acknowledge and deeply regret the concerns that arose from the incident. It was never my intention to cause any disruption or violate aviation protocols in any way,” he said.

“Over the years, I have consistently used my God-given talent and platform to promote the Nigerian brand across the globe. I would never do anything to tarnish the image I’ve built over the past five decades.”

The veteran artiste emphasized that his actions should not be misinterpreted as disrespectful to the institutions he has long supported.

“My unwavering patriotism and unshaken loyalty to the Federal Republic of Nigeria have never been in doubt… I remain committed to upholding the values and responsibilities that come with being a global ambassador of Nigerian music and culture,” K1 said.

Context: Fallout from the ValueJet Controversy

This new apology follows a turbulent week for K1 De Ultimate. On August 6, his media aide Kunle Rasheed initially refuted all allegations of misconduct, describing the situation as exaggerated. However, the NCAA, through its spokesperson Michael Achimugu, announced a formal six-month suspension, citing “alleged misconduct” at the airport.

Though details of the disciplinary findings remain limited, the latest apology suggests an effort to de-escalate tensions and resolve the matter amicably.

Public Reactions and What Comes Next

The apology has stirred fresh conversation online, with fans and critics split on whether the sanction should remain or be reviewed in light of K1’s explanation and contrition. While some call for leniency, others argue that accountability remains essential, particularly for high-profile public figures.

The NCAA has yet to respond publicly to the statement.

Looking Ahead

Whether the aviation authorities will reconsider the blacklist remains uncertain, but K1 De Ultimate’s public show of humility may play a role in future deliberations.

For now, the legendary singer says he remains focused on promoting Nigerian music and culture — a mission he believes should never be tainted by misunderstandings.
