Polaris Bank Partners UI, NCF on Environmental Conservation and Tree Planting
Polaris Bank Limited has collaborated with the University of Ibadan (UI) and the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) on environmental conservation through a tree planting initiative.
During a courtesy visit to UI Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kayode Adebowale, Polaris Executive Director, Abimbola Ozomah, stated:
“The initiative stemmed from the bank’s desire to continuously contribute positively to the environment and communities, as well as to commemorate World Environment Day on June 5, 2024…
Polaris Bank Ltd is committed to sustainable practices and land restoration through the nationwide planting of economic trees.”
Mr. Adedayo Memudu, Senior Manager of NCF, emphasized:
“One of the NCF’s core values is its commitment to partnership development, which is why it has partnered with Polaris Bank Ltd to enhance the bank’s corporate social responsibility and sustainability platforms.”
UI Registrar, Mr. Ganiyu Saliu, reaffirmed:
“The university does not allow indiscriminate felling of trees but enforces a structured process for tree removal…
The university initiated a project to plant 1,000 trees, which will be adopted by well-meaning Nigerians, with the university providing the necessary support for their sustainability.”
Polaris Bank has kick-started a nationwide tree planting initiative, starting at Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) on July 1, 2024, and proceeding to Ajingi Community Reserve in Kano on August 30.

Not all feedback was entirely positive.
Dami Bolade said the overall experience was enjoyable but pointed to the weather as a challenge.
“It’s a nice experience, but the weather is quite hot compared to previous years,” he said.
On pricing, he added:
“It’s not too cheap, not too expensive rather somewhere in between. But it could be lower so people can buy more to take home.”

Beyond food, the festival continues to attract families seeking a complete outing.
David Ajayi, who attended with his wife and children, described the event as:
“A very good time out for family.”
He noted that the venue was well-organised, with clear sections for food, games, and digital experiences.

For returning visitors, the children’s play area remains a major draw.
Vivian Obi said she attends regularly because of the consistent experience.
“It’s always fun, and the kids are always excited,” she said.

Damilola Ogidiolu said the festival has become part of her family routine.
“It’s an all-in-one experience from food to games, everything in one place,” she said.

Some attendees simply described the environment as inviting.
